In the first 2024 Republican presidential primary debate, eight candidates battled for attention and influence. Join me as I analyze the body language, gestures, and expressions of North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former Vice President Mike Pence, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. What I saw with Nikki and Vivek is that he let her speak, and then when it was his turn to respond she did not even let him speak. That’s a sign of weakness, on her part. Pointing or not, when you talk over someone you’re basically saying that you can only win the argument if you’re the only voice.

Nikki raised her voice to command attention but was perceived by many as being aggressive and not assertive. Wished you had discussed Christie's shaming of Vivek showing high levels of weakness. Thank you for your video.

Wow this guy Vivek... He is spot on... He never had to manipulate... He is confident on what he wants and what he believes and moreover he listens to others... That is a great leadership trait not just trying to just push your ideologies and perceptions. He is trying to correct them. He has perfect clarity on what he wants to happen for the nation....

Vivek baited everyone who went after him. While they postured through rehearsed lines, Vivek was smiling, laughing, and making thankful gestures to the crowd. He came across as authentic and likeable, which is part of the reason most people think he won the debate. The other candidates clearly see him as the main contender to Trump. He's solid and clear on policy. He's articulate and intelligent. He's loyal to the base and has built good faith and rapport with them. And I think, if he makes to a 1v1 situation with Trump, he'll draw some challenging contrasts that'll sway a lot of people to his cause. I'm personally excited to see how close he can get in this race.

I am not a psychologist or a body language expert, but I have always been naturally good at it. And I don't understand how people missed DeSantis looking around before barely raising his hand, that's a death sentence for his presidential run and some people in the media are even claiming he won the debate 😂

You’re right about Desantis losing confidence during his comment about being assigned with SEALs in Iraq. I thought it was an odd way to say that initially and he added more context later which made it clear that he was not himself a SEAL, but that he had worked with them.
I think the reason he brought it up that he was assigned with them was to make himself sound more elite by evoking the name of an elite military group with which he worked.
He lost confidence in this exact moment because he felt a bit of shame in this association because he knew it was a bit of a misleading fib, having people think for the moment that he was a SEAL, even if it was not an outright untruth.
