It's not what AI is so much, as what people do with it that scares me.

There are numerous science fiction books going back at least 50 years warning about this …

His predictions came true. Dr. Kaku deserves a lot more credit on the topic of AI than Elon Musk by a long shot.

Stop exaggerating on AI. It's just a tool. No computer ever knows what it is doing.

Should YouTube be considered a theatre, or what about news and/or broadcast television? The principle behind the fire in a theatre law was to prevent mass panic, but it seems the news often causes panics because drama sells and it sticks in people's head's the most. Happy memories are quickly overtaken by a bad memory or moment, and when you have negative energy you have to release it. Any kind of excess energy you need to release somehow, and physically is the most efficient way, verbally is the second most efficient.

AI's like computer are only as good or bad as the person programming them.

Although I agree that the free market can and should play a role in regulating AI (eg, by providing things like fact-checking services and "watermarks" to identify AI generated content), I believe you have to have government regulation also (I could be wrong, but it seems Professor Kaku is advocating a very light-touch approach to this). Stamping the technology out, of course, isn't the way to go (even if that were possible). However, government should play a role in how the technology develops because the market alone can't account for all the externalities AI generates. Some of the ones we know about now are the use of people's intellectual property to train foundation models and the presence of biases in training datasets. Other externalities will probably arise over time. Unfortunately, the presence of externalities (almost by definition) typically can't be resolved using markets and consequently requires government involvement.

Fire in a crowded theater is.. fuel causing flames? Is it spreading fast? Anyone notice the smell or smoke already? Isn't there easily time to examine if it's true?Weird it's considered the greatest example of limited expression. Anyone ever prosecuted for this?

How can we be sure that this whole interview is not computer generated, pardon my ignorance… because the things I see recently are both amazing and annoying by themselves (the amount of fake information, I mean )

What ever happened to Isaac Asimov's rules of robotics and positronic brain design? Wouldn't that be a good place to start?
