This was a tremendous help. However in my testing adding -quality does nothing for the encode. I tried -quality [1-10] and got the same file size every time. -qp_p and -qp_i were the only variables I could change that yielded any difference in quality and file size.

is using the "-hwaccel" option same as "-vaapi_device" ? I am using Arch linux.
