Han And Leia’s Alternate Kissing Deleted Scene

One of the greatest films ever made, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back did a lot for the Star Wars universe! One of those was bringing our favorite scoundrel Han Solo and the lovely Princess Leia together romantically! Now we all know the scene of their first kiss in the Millenium Falcon while they were hiding in what they thought was an asteroid but did you know that there was an alternate way this setting would end in a deleted scene? Well the deleted scene plays on almost identical to the final shot in the movie but the ending is slightly different! As you can see, Leia falls for Han a little more and goes in for a second smooch! At first I was surprised they cut that, particularly given it isn't very long, but I guess they thought it worked better for the initial kiss to be interrupted so that her sneaking away at the end would pretty much send him back to square one, instead of here where her "OK, hotshot" essentially signals she's all-in and then C3-PO's interruption is just a funny annoyance that doesn't change them now being a couple. This also explains the other deleted scene on Bespin (a continuation of the scene that ends with her saying "and then you're as good as gone, aren't you?") where she avoids kissing him by asking about Luke but then lets him kiss her - by cutting both scenes it delays her really going through with it until they kiss as he's being put into carbonite. So, I'd say the theatrical version works better.

I love the deleted scene so much more. it shows how Leia actually started to like han instead of han just wanted to kiss her then she walked away

I just love it when Leia said, ok hotshot. That is so hot, why did they delete this??

Man I wish they had put that in the movie their first kiss was too rushed and too short 😂❤❤❤

Now I finally know why there's a continuity error in the official edit - Leia's hand being in Han's hands when they kiss and then being around Han's head when C3PO busts in. They cut the transition.

I think the edit that appears in the theatrical release works best. Pacing is important and removing the short, deleted scene was the right thing to do.
