This is a much loved orchestral piece composed by Leroy Anderson in July 1948. "Sleigh Ride" although not originally written for Christmas has so many associations and memories for Christmas. My father would play the record of this on Christmas Day as a prelude to opening our presents......

My Dad was trumpet soloist with the US Navy Band in Washington, D.C. Every year at Christmas time the Full Band and Symphonic Orchestra would present their Christmas Concert. "Sleigh Ride" was the highlight of the evening's performance. I will NEVER forget the fantastic memories of those concerts. It still brings a chill to me when I hear this song.
