Black paint dry's faster than most paint colors, hence the faster drying time allowed for more cars to be made, allowing the car to be more affordable to the general public.

This trivia question set up is funny. The colors offered in 1908 as the 1909 model were only red, green, and gray. Blue with black fenders was offered in 1912. Black was not offered as a color until 1913. Ford supposedly did say that in 1909 though.

That may have been the case, if it were discovered in 1913. Again, black was not available on a Model T until 1913.
