Thanks for this. The real Haunting of Hill House book by Shirley Jackson is about loneliness and disconnection from others. Eleanor Vance is the main character and the story is told by her. Hill House is the only real home she’s known and although she’s traumatized by the happenings in the house, she doesn’t want to leave.

'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson was first published in 1959. Ms. Jackson decided to write the book after reading about 19th century psychic researchers. Impossible to allege any connection between a book from the late 1950's and the Smurl haunting which took place between 1974 and 1989. I believe the movie made about the Smurl case was called 'The Haunted' (1991). The movies based on Ms. Jackson's book were called 'The Haunting' (1963 & 1999).

My Uncle Frankie worked the Amityville house case.. said when he first pulled up and approached the driveway he got this feeling of Pure Evil and he also helped Crack the Case of Son of Sam.. his stories are amazing. .my grandmother kept all the news clippings and it was interesting hearing his stories.

The haunting of the hill House is one of the evat horror movie of all time for me. No jumpscare, no scary looking ghosts etc. For me the best thing about the movie is that it can be look in different perspectives, for those who believe in paranormal can view it as a paranormal event but for more sceptical person like me, it's more of a mental health issue. It actually happened and it doesn't happen in real is what it can be summed up into. It happened in their minds even if others do not believe it. I think I'm more of the sceptical son's type. If it happens to my family, I would find it hard to accept it's paranormal and might find it easier to accept it as medical disorder

The last House with the Lutz family is Amityville NY. The house recently got remodeled (within the last 7 or 8 years) and replaced those famous sail-shaped windows on the top floor with more conventional windows. Maybe the home owners didn't want tourists recognizing their home so easily.
