I have conversations with people almost every week about working in the consulting industry. Since most people know all the good benefits of working in the industry, I usually try to focus on these five to give people a better sense of what working in consulting is like

0:00 - Should you work in consulting?
0:27 - You must like the work
1:10 - You must do analytical work
2:06 - Your interests will be shaped by peer desires
3:15 - Work WILL be a priority in your life
4:15 - An unmatched learning environment

as soon as it's expected from you to work overtime without a possibility to later go on vacation with the collected overtime, I'd say that kind of job is NOT worth your lifetime for ANY kind of money longterm. Burnout is heavy and no matter how many purses, Lamborghinis, villas etc you'll have, you won't be happy if your mental and physical health has suffered. And don't fool yourself into thinking that you'll be the 1% robot-esque dude who can combine both 60-80hrs crunches AND good mental and physical health. Longterm, it's not about willpower.

I’m 35 and working in professional services with analytics. I’m considering an MSBA as the school I want to attend (Notre Dame) doesn’t have an MBA with a stem focus unless you go full time. Do you think an MSBA could still open doors to management consulting, especially considering how much data is apart if most roles now?

I feel I lean toward the relationship and big picture “consultant” that you mentioned, hence me actually thinking the MSBA will round out my skills/give me some tools long-term, even if I’m not the one always crunching the data

Hey Paul, it would be great to get you on our podcast. We would love to talk about management consulting, the future of the world, and perhaps some philosophical discussion!

Do you have online live course?
I dont like pre-record courses actually.
And these sort of skills require work experience...
