I ended up using the standoffs too. I bought a kit from Amazon with 3 different types of screws in it. None of them were long enough. Thanks for finding another OS for us.

I'm super glad that openfyde came in because this is by far the most useable OS for the Orange pi. Both displays work perfectly, it's fast on an nvme ssd and it's all on all a good experience.

Great.. the start of a promising dynamics from the community for the Orange Pi 5 and Rock Pi 5! new version of the GPU driver integrated, highly customizable OS + desktop managers (FydeOS, RebornOS, ..).

I see we landed on the same solution for securing the NVMe. This is an area that Orange Pi didn’t seem to think through very well. With the crazy large hole behind the NVMe, I can’t come up with any other solution than to use a standoff.

Also, it’s pretty neat that with NVMe showing up on these boards alongside the SD Card, we can start fully self-hosting Operating Systems. Install your main OS on an NVMe drive using your “master” OS, then flash SD Cards for testing as needed. That’s something that generally wasn’t feasible on the Raspberry Pi.

I used simple M3 screw with nut ;-)
my orange pi 5 is now in production for 2 weeks or so, replacing all add-ons from HA (in docker of course: influxdb, grafana, mosquitto, chrony, wireguard, pihole, mariadb, phpmyadmin etc...), amazing piece of hardware, of course running debian without GUI, NVME + 2 SSD over USB connected as well for storage purposes (samba and TimeMachine backup for all my Macbooks, over wifi of course).
temperature never above 35C (unless I start stress-test of course, then it goes to 50C, with radiator and fan controlled automatically using GPIO on orange pi5)
funny thing: prices on Ali for orange pi 5 increased like crazy!

Oh great one ! I suppose this way to install os/boot on NVME will work on any OS. That's cool because the current Android 12 SD Card Build is différent than the Android 12 SPI NVme Build provided by OrangePi site. (the bluetooth Dongles wont work on SPI NVme android Build) so will use this method to burn the right Android Build ❤️

Beginning from r108 release we will add (experimental) Android 11 support for openFyde on RK3588 boards, including this Orange Pi. Hopefully it will bring more possibilities to the play ⭕

In the Linux terminal, when you get a prompt (e.g. [Y/n]) - the capital letter is the default (so just pressing Enter in this case is the same as pressing Y then enter). There you go, I've just saved your Y and N keys :-)

Is there a usable 7-8inch touchscreen that'll work for the orange pi 5? I can only find 5" and 10" which are either too big or too small for my purpose

Have you tested dual display monitors on FydeOS? Android apps may not be moved from one display to the other properly (app disappearing, app mostly hidden on new screen) unless this has been fixed.

Do you know what the camera inputs are for? Cant seem to find any camera that can connect with these connecters, well i can find em but there used in Smartphones. Could prove usefull for me in my garden.
