WHY IS PARKING BRAKE LIGHT ON. HANDBRAKE LIGHT ON WHEN RELEASED

If your parking brake light is on even when the parking brake is not engaged we will explain what causes that. The parking brake is also known as hand brake so some repair manuals may refer to it as hand brake light on. The parking brake light should be on when the parking brake light is applied however on older cars or cars in which the parking brake was used often can develop that problem. There is a switch that activates the light for the parking brake and if that switch gets stuck or malfunctions then your parking brake light will stay on.

I think the objective of this video is:
1: Locate the switch 3:20
2: Replace the switch OR entire petal/handbrake ratchet assembly.

👍It doesn’t show how to troubleshoot (clean, lubricate, realign, or fix a sticky switch) which might often be good enough to fix an old malfunctioning switch; which you should try once the switch is located.

The end of the video 👎 shows how to disconnect the sensor/dash-light indicator 🤦‍♂️ (yes I hear the disclaimer in narration, however this is irrelevant to FIXING anything).

It’s still helpful but that’s my feedback. Thank you

Urgent advice needed. My light goes out if the wire connects to an earth but that's what it's supposed to do but unfortunately it is fooked and stays on no matter what. Only other function is brake fluid level but that is fine. Wtf . This is driving me nuts.
