I used a GoPro MAX and then a GoPro Hero 9 Black as my only cameras for a year on my YouTube channel. Up until I got my Sony ZV-E10 in September every video was filmed using the GoPros, including sit down videos! I did that because of budget and ease of use. But, there is a huge a difference between my first 200 videos and my more recent videos in terms of quality. The biggest challenge with the GoPro was indoor lighting.

I agree! GoPros are an excellent choice for 90% of what people do. They take random photos or videos of activities and post on social media. For that, the GoPros are outstanding. I use mine for vlogging when I hike. When the wind is bad I can plug in my lav mic and all is well. No way am I lugging my Sony a7III or even 6400 out there anymore. I keep the pro cameras for my paid work and things that need to be high res and very sharp. Great video and info. Thanks for sharing!

GoPro is amazing, and there is no need to get a super expensive camera, but optical zoom, macro, and aperture means I prefer the ZV1 or ZV-E10.

I don't know if there can be any better comparison video. You covered all points possible, including the studio setup which was very important for me

Thank you

I like both, and there’s definitely a place for both cameras in the market.

im so shocked that I have to pause the video to make a judgement for the go pro... I guess as long as you're out doors, and moving its better. vs indoors and static, thats where the sony shines. great vid!

Fun comparison. I actually just took a GoPro 10 out on a paddleboard tour and really loved shooting with it. Resistant to water and super light. Slow motion was great. The biggest downside is everything must be shot wide which gets a little boring after a while. And no depth of field. Also low light performance is pretty bad. I tried shooting some bio luminescence at night with it and needless to say it was completely black. In the future I will bring both. Something with a long lens and better low light performance and a GoPro.

Good comparison. I use a canon m50 for my amateur photography and a GoPro 7 for action footage on the bicycle, will be buying a GoPro 10 soon. Opine that the mirrorless camera with a decent lens beats the GoPro for a range of photography tasks. Your good review was primarily on the vlogging tasks.

In the end though I personally just use a GoPro and cell phone. It comes down to affordability, replacement cost, usability (will you have it with you) and content. The GoPro does a pretty decent job and really most of YouTube is consumed on a phone or tablet so throwing a high end production around seems pointless. Ok, I'm done rambling.

definitely encouraging for me to use my GoPro 10 as a C-cam to go with my Sony FX3 and Sony ZV-E10 for podcast and documentary shoots.

I'm about to use the GoPro for a project...whereas previously I would have used my A73. My only concern is being able to monitor the sound levels because the environment I'm shooting has wild spikes of in audio levels.

I think gopro for sure wins as a general video camera but it's a totally different fight when you get into stills. I love the price of the gopro it'd definitely let a lot of people get creative at a lower price point without sacrificing too much

Go pro, for a semi pro workhorse...for every day cam work? Pre Hero 9, nah. Hero 10, and beyond .... yup. You just have to buy 5 of em at a time. Quality, simplicity and seamless workflow is the rule in the "reel" world. Nuff sed.

I have watched just about all of your videos back to back and have no idea why you don't have 10x as many subscribers as you have right now. I'm looking to set up a studio to film at (I'm a lawn care channel). I see you have the Aputure II Light Dome, seems a lot of the channels I watch use them. I that what you would recommend, or anyting else?

I use gopro hero 10 now as my camera of choice except low light condition. In low light I use my zv1. I have my gopro 9 as a backup now.

I have to explain what is really the Achilles heal of the GoPro Hero 10. Hands down it’s battery life. I carry around 2 spares along with a spare micro SD card.

Can you make a video comparing iPhone 13pro vs GoPro 10? Do I need the GoPro if I have an iPhone?

If I'm looking for my first decent quality dslr/mirrorless, but I also have a GoPro hero 7 and 10, should I even worry about the camera's video settings? I can use my GoPros for any videos, really. I mostly want a better camera for stills and getting into photography.
