Great video, tip for people struggling with 06:30 you can you a deep socket, either a 10mm, 13mm or 15mm (I forget the size) but that is deep enough to reach down onto the nut without rounding to loosen it a few turns.

Hallow Andy. I’ve just through the hoops with 1.4D corsa. Fault fan on constant. 1st relay- wrong item. 2nd item fitted, but not the fault. 3rd was sensor- not at fault. 4th final thermostat 🤗🤗 at last! Enjoyed your vids pal. Being truthful like the item you got helps us no end. I replaced the water pump a bit ago. 👍👍

Left and right is always determined when sat in the car so the left-hand side would be the passenger side and the right-hand side would be the driver's side and also when draining the system never try and drain from the tap on the rad because if it cracks and leaks its new rad time especially on old cars when most of the plastic is old and brittle.

Just had this with my car changed the 2 temperature sensors fan was still on. Then changed the resistor. Fan was still on. Bought a new thermostat comes complete with housing unit £17.89 of eBay stuck that in myself pure easy 3 bolts. Seems to have done the trick. My fans off. Warning light is off car running like a dream. You also have to top up coolant so buy 2-3 litres as you lose almost all of it when changing the thermostat. X

hi Andy Great video. What i would do is when you are using a tool like a socket etc let us know in the video the size. that would help us real newbies. thanks mate

Me and my lad are going to attempt this at the w/e as his corsa, same engine, it is throwing the same error code, we changed the temp sensor on the radiator but no luck. Fingers crossed.

didn't see you turn your heater on hot when you started the car ... that's why your water wasn't circulating around the system properly. But I'm sure you turned them on when you went for your drive ... which solved it for you!

What is the function of the sensor adjacent to the thermostat housing for ?

Mine has a slight oil leak when I feel it at the bottom, I don't know if it's a seal or gasket at fault, but I get a small drip or two on the garage floor from there sometimes.?
It doesn't appear to be related to the rocker cover, it's just a niggling thing that annoys me because it runs down & around the engine sump.
Thanks for the video, thumbs up.

I hope you can help me, but I have a x reg corsa b that is leaking coolant via two bolts at the bottom of the engine by the drivers side wheel. If I tighten the bolt and it doesn't stop leaking, where do I go from there? Also I don't suppose you know what those two downwards facing, torque head bolts, are called do you? Would be helpful for torque settings. Thanks.

Its NOT a temp sensor on the thermostat housing mate. It a heater that allows the ecu to have better control of the thermostat opening.

Hi there,

I have the same problem and I'm wondering is it worth getting a new expansion tank or used one since I don't drive the car that much anyway because maybe in the future I might replace it with a brand new one. Can I replace it myself and do I have to be really careful to remove the retaining clips from the other pipe. Also I don't know if it's worth replace because I have checked the antifreeze since I have not topped it up a lot and it seems fine to me. Should I replace it anyway just to be safe. And also the fan is blowing could this be the issue. Cause when I top up the antifreeze it runs out as soon as I drive off and gets to a boiling point. Please let me know as soon as possible please.
Thanks

Hi. I wonder if you could please help me. I have opel corsa D (2010, petrol, A12XEL engine) and the problem is that the coolant boils. I'v changed thermostat, coolant (also unblocked the system and pipes using special liquid) and nothing helped. I know that thermostat doesn't open. The hose right after thermostat is always cold. The water pumps seems to work (during this summer I've been driving without thermostat - had only the boxing - the coolant didn't boil and mentioned hose was warm). Can it be, that thermostat in this specific car opens (and closes) electronically (not only mechanically)? It would mean that I have some issue with car software or temperature measurement. Is there a possibility to unplug some pin and make thermostat open mechanically? Maybe you would have some tips, what should I check? What could cause the problem. Thanks!
