Bro pulled out the Marauders map in his head

He was getting overwhelmed and needed a second to think, since he has nearly perfect memory recall, he was able to calculate when people would be finishing with the stuff they had to attend to and where they should be.

Of course he's overwhelmed. What surgeons reads EKG, running around the emergency dept attending to non-surgical patients, bombarded by nurses with stupid questions which OR and which anaesthesiologist or doctor to get. Nursing staff delegate OR. anaesthesiologist gets the case referred to them and self-delegate. Hospital is chaos. But there are always systems and protocols.

Good example of a real life concept for people with ASD. Shaun’s basically had exposure therapy for being in the hospital so long. At the beginning this sort of stuff would of had him curled up in a ball on the floor. Progress is slow but it’s real. Even if it’s uncomfortable trust the process

Context: Doctor Shaun Murphy in this episode is an attendant surgeon, he is autistic but he also has the Savant Syndrome. You can see a flashback when Dr. Murphy mentions Asher, and then he says "oh, he's dead". That is also why this episode is also very difficult for the hospital crew during this intense day caused by an accident. Asher Wolke was a crew member, a resident surgeon. He was murdered basically by defending a jewish mate of some gangasters in front of a synagogue, this was basically a crime of hate. This episode started with his funeral, but couldn't even finish when the crisis reached the hospital. All the old crew was having some really pronlems with their feelings with Asher during thr crisis. His boyfriend (Jerome, a operating room nurse) even had to take the day free as he couldn't continue working. This episode ended with all the crew in Murphy's office, with Jerome giving his friends some things that Asher surely would have wanted them to have, some things that brought back memories on all of them. Also this was one of the last episodes of this great show. I really enjoyed it, recommend 100%.

This is a really nice character development for him. A similar thing happened in season 2, during the first quarantine episode. But instead of making an enviroment for his head to think about the answers clearly, he completely fell apart. It's so nice seeing him grow, and find good solutions for things that will happen again.

I love how the nurses were understanding and gave him space and didnt try to pressurize him ❤

I like how the stress didn't make him shut down, but it made him more efficient

They should make it canon that he gets excruciating migraines because of his brain overprocessing information as he gets older. It happens. Someone who’s supposed to have a brain like his will suffer a consequence or two for being able to process as quickly as he did in his youth

He used echolocation 😅
No seriously, this works, take your ears away from your mind for a few seconds and you get an immediate response from your brain to everything at your own pace.

That female intern is so annoying. Keeps talking like she knows it all. She needs to learn and less opening her mouth.
