We had similar things happen here in Australia. My town auburn got a criminal mayor. He even had his criminal gang members come into town meetings by the thousands and stand over the other councillors with threats of violence. He was approving all these dodgy illegal developments he was getting kickbacks for. He even closed down a street illegal for his wedding and filled the street with Supercars and Lebanese dancers and musicians. His wife divorced him and had to go into hiding as he put hits out in her. Thank god he got arrested and lost his position of power.
