Motor tanker carrying 1.4 million liters of oil sinks off Bataan

A Philippine-flagged motor tanker loaded with 1.4 million liters (1.4 metric tons) of industrial fuel oil (IFO) capsized and eventually sank off Limay, Bataan on Thursday, July 25.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified the vessel of interest as MT Terra Nova which capsized and eventually submerged 3.6 nautical miles east off Lamao Point around 1:10 a.m.

Why would the PCG allow a tanker full of oil to sail in the middle of a storm? If that doesn't make you question the competence of the PCG, I don't know what will 😢

i bet that ship is more than 50 years old and the captain incompetent. the waves weren;t big enough to sink a tanker that size. everyone seems lackadasical about this until it spills 1 million litres in manila bay

That is the end for bataan and subic marine life. Napakamalas ng Pilipinas. Ubos ang yamang tubig natin ilang dekada ang aabutin bago mawala yan langis na yan diyan sa mga karagatan.
