I had a sin from childhood that I tried many different ways to give up. I prayed, asking God to help me to stop. It wasn't until I started hating that sin as much as I use to enjoy it, I prayed with tears and total frustration. "God, please take this sin from me. I don't want this sin, but I can't stop on my own. I need your help." Anytime I commit that sin after that prayer, there is no joy in it, and as time goes on I have deepened my relationship with God and that sin is committed less and less.

I smoke cigarettes and I hate it. Please say a prayer for me. I don't like it but I'm struggling with it. I had quit for a year. But I started it again. Pray 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Being in Christ means, yes you still sin but NEVER give up towards sanctification

I see a common misconception beloveds. You should not be trying! It is not from your own strength that you can stop sinning, it is impossible. You must surrender your will! Jesus is your King and Lord and His Will be done, He is greater than your sin or your problem. So you need not worry, practice obedience to His love, trusting in His love. Do not practice trying to adhere to a set of rules out of your own strength. Of course this will always result in failure, as only your faith in God and through Christ can you overcome and move mountains. In your moment of temptation, pray and go to His throne and His love, praise Him and how much greater He is and His eternal love for you than that sin which is trying to pull you into perdition.

Repentance is the the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit when we want to change our selfish, self-centered, self-reliant and Godless lifestyle thereby giving it up to God. Upon surrendering to God the regenerative process of justification (having been saved from sin and justified), adoption (having been made part of God's family), sanctification (continuously being transformed, made holy, and conformed to the image of Christ) and the future sense of glorification is what repentant Christians anticipate; that one day we will be saved from the presence of sin. A repentant life is a changed life, not in that perfection is ever attained but in that the fruit of repentance (a change in action and attitudes) becomes discernible in a person’s character. One of the distinguishing marks between a believer and non-believer is believers wage war against sin and don't cave in to anything sinful and if sin finds a way to take advantage of them they become devastated and cry out to God. A repentant person will hate sin and will live in a way that is pleasing to God

Repentance is simply living with a new mindset now of God above all an your Sin below. Meaning when you Sin come to God humble an ask for forgiveness it's written he is just to forgive you an cleanses you of all unrighteousness. Don't make an oath as it's written swear by nothing above an below an not by your name may your yes be yes an your nods be no. God will help you over come continue in your battle :]

2 Peter 1:3 God has given us everything that we need for life and godliness. We can show our love for Him by living to please Him not ourselves. We will have deep joy from knowing Him through His Word. Trust and obey. 🥰🙏

St Agustin had said in a prayer “Lord command what thou will and give what tho commands” I use this when I repent of my sin. But committing not to sin by His power is awesome

Looked at pictures on line I shouldn't have, the Lord chastised me by taking my son from cold turkey! He had to give me a wake up call and I'm so thankful for that.

Im at an impasse, I say the Lord forgive me this, I close my eyes to not sin, my mind now sinned. Must I gouge my eyes? Forgive me my wickedness Lord, A righteous of mine I'm certain I cannot attain. If I serve Him, let me in brokenness be. I can only labour so much. I cannot. But I detest the sin I cling to, every-time I try, to abide. I drift. Who is woeful? What is repentance? a cessation from sin? Help Us Lord, never our glory, but Christ. May He purge us from all impurities. Help me understand too, anyone who stumble into my comment.

I believe you contradicted yourself. Saying “I’m going to commit to not do this sin anymore” is like an oath. “Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Anything more than that is from satan.” Just ask the Lord to give you the strength to resist temptation. The only thing we should be committed to is keeping our faith in the Gospel, and through our faith, He will supply us the means to walk in Righteousness. We can’t even keep our faith if it wasn’t for the Holy Spirit. You try to commit to anything else, and you’re going to fail because you are trying to do it in your own power. We are poor in everything. Completely destitute, but the Heavenly Father has everything. So just ask Him for what you need. 😊🙏🏾

That is hard to do on your own, it really takes the Holy Spirit’s power! You must bend your will to the will of Christ!

That is like saying, i womt be a human anymore for the rest of my life, does that make sense to anyone, practice good to become a better you, but to strive for perfection is foolish, as it is unnatainable living under the law of sin, that is why we need grace, tell him your problems every day, it doesnt matter if its the same problem, as long as your genuinely remorseful, give more time to God than you give basically any worldy thing either in thought or prayer and worship and reading, and youll be fine ❤

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 — Moreover, brethren, I declare to you 👉the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: 👉that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Romans 10:9 — 👉that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus 👉and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, 👉YOU WILL BE SAVED.

Not a rash oath, but a commitment, huh. Sin is horrible. My flesh is horrible. My patience and mercy is nothing compared to my savior’s, my Christ’s, my God’s. You can’t trust yourself in any commitment. You can trust Jesus.

Have faith in what God says He can do- which is setting you free from slavery to sin.
Stop looking to yourself. 100% the Holy Spirit can break the chains if you call on Him.
