PRK vs Lasik Eye Surgery? I went with PRK

After 15 years of thinking about getting corrective laser eye surgery, I went for it! This video documents my before and after experience with PRK. I was 20 50 before the surgery, now I'm a perfect 20 20! But...I definitely lost some of my near vision. The recovery was up and down, days 3 and 4 were the most uncomfortable. After 2 weeks, my eyes took a turn for the worse because of a reaction to some eye drops that I bought in Canada (they had preservatives, and my eyes didn't like that). At 5 weeks, (the time of posting this video) my sight is pretty darn amazing.

Hello friends! This is a different type of adventure video, an EYE adventure! Have any of you had laser eye surgery? Or considering getting it? I hope this video helps explain what it's all about. SEE you all down the road.

I had PRK surgery 15 years ago at the age of 45. My vision was terrible, 20-2200 with an astigmatism. I was blind for three days, but on the third day my vision was 20-15. I'm 60 years old now and my vision is STILL 20-15. It has worked out well for me.

I had PRK a year and a half ago, and I still have moments where I'm amazed at how sharp my vision is.

FYI I had PRK a week ago, and they are EXTREMELY SERIOUS about wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection, absolutely every time you go outside, sunny and even on overcast weather, 6 months after the surgery! They said it's proven that UV rays can seriously damage new surface layer that grown up after it's removed during the operation! So, please be careful and wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection, it's a no joke. It's strange that they didn't told you that at the hospital.

I got PRK as well! It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I also got it done almost 10 years ago and it hasn't worn off at all the entire time. It's been great. The recovery, however, was not fun. I didn't open my eyes for 2-3 days after the surgery. I just tried to sleep solely to pass the time haha wait until about 3 weeks has gone by and you'll notice how much better they've gotten.

I had PRK done. First time in 2017, and a touch-up in 2019. Best decision ever! Recovery time is extremely uncomfortable for the first three days, but good after that initial bumpy part.

I’ve had the surgery twice. First time 1998 and again in 2000. I am now wearing glasses to drive and could have another enhancement but that would prevent me from seeing my watch. Remember, your eyes continue to grow and change shape, making your eyesight change.

Once you heal after about a 6 weeks, you'll be like "Why didn't I do it sooner?" Great journey my friend, your vision will vary for the first month, once you heal it'll stabilize.

Good for you. Glad it worked out. Now you have to redo all your bike tours so you can see what you missed.😁😁 Take care and keep up the great videos, Al

Awesome. I just had PRK a week ago and after wearing glasses for 30 years I am excited to run a trail without tripping because I can not wear glasses running. Thanks for the uplifting video.

I'm at day 4 post op, and my eyes are miserable. I can't see for sh*t. PRK is much more intense than Lasik. Can't wait to be able to see again! So glad it worked out so well for you!

I'm about to get PRK surgery in a few days. Your video definitely makes me feel a little more comfortable about the whole process. I'm going to dread the 3rd and 4th day as you described, but I know it will be worth it. Great video!

I had PRK 8 days ago and I have had the most rapid recovery that I have ever seen or heard of. Pre operatively I had -4D for both eyes (I am male, 22 years old). As I write this, my Right eye was just measured at 20/16, and Left eye at 20/10! Pain lasted for about 2-3 days but I didn't need to take any painkillers except for the first night. I was almost fully functional by day 4! I can see extremely clearly! Things I didn't even know I could see.

It's obviously really early still to jump to conclusions, but it seems like everything is going well. I was well aware of the risks, but it worked out and I am really happy and grateful I can already see that well.

After 20 years my astigmatisms started coming back. Then I had cataract surgery. Good luck you’ll love it.

Hey Ryan - a great choice! I had Lasic Eye Surgery when I was 44, and have never regretted it. Folks that are 40+ are best clients.

I had prk done 10 years by a military doctor and I've been wearing glasses since 2016. The glasses weren't completely necessary but I started driving tractor-trailers and it cleared things up. I have an astigmatism and I still have it.
