‘Once In A Lifetime’ from David Byrne’s (Talking Heads) “American Utopia” on Broadway 05OCT19

“And you may find yourself
Living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself
In another part of the world
And you may find yourself
Behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house
With a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, well
How did I get here?

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was

Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!
Water dissolving and water removing

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again into silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

You may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
You may ask yourself
Where does that highway go to?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? Am I wrong?
And you may say yourself
"My God! What have I done?"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was

Look where my hand was
Time isn't holding us
Time isn't after us

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was

Letting the days go by

Same as it ever was

And here the twister comes
Here comes the twister

Letting the days go by (same as it ever was)
Same as it ever was (same as it ever was)
Letting the days go by (same as it ever was)

Same as it ever was

Once in a lifetime
Let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by”

Songwriters: Brian Eno / Christopher Frantz / David Byrne / Jerry Harrison / Tina Weymouth

I saw this show on Broadway last week. Any concern I had in life, anything on my mind that was worrying me, anything that made me sad, was forgotten for two hours. This show is everything we need right now.

This show was w everything you could hope for. David Byrne is not only a brilliant writer and musician. Hes generational performer…he changed music so much and had such a vision!

Uh....oh yeah - I helped Byrne get into a cab after a rained out performance on July 1st, 1990 in Central Park - he had me hold his guitar, and then his coffee. He signed for me and took a photo. He offered me a cab ride to wherever - I wish I had taken it. I still have the signed "Stop Making Sense" cassette tape. A treasured memento of times long gone. I am 54 now. Yeah. Time flies when you are having fun! And I have been. I saw my last Waters Concerts after 40 years going - This is Not a Drill. As I saw Bowie sing on 57th Street - "I'm never ever gonna get old!" Oh - Byrne stole my pen LOL. Felt tip back then Everything now is Sharpies with no character. I love fountain pen for my items.

A mysterious, gifted, musical; and, artistic master of his unique entertainment. He lit the rock world on BOLD fire! Byrne STILL makes primal contributions in 2022!

I would of love to see this in person. I got married on Halloween 2020 and I had taking heads psycho killer playing we had punk and all kinds the people who was organizing it was very shocked and happy at the same time as they didn’t listen to the typical songs for weddings

Dave is gonna break his hip if he's not careful.
Substantially less Bolivian Marching Powder involved in this production compared to the original.
Time is an elephant.
