As a former CO, I would actually hold my keys in my hand when I did my round so the jingle of them didn’t disturb people. Their punishment is to be there away from there family’s and society, not to be mistreated that happens enough with the meals we served

As a CO, I try to keep my keys as quiet as possible. In my pocket or hold them in my hand. Always train the new CO's and inmates alike, you show respect to get respect. All I want is for the staff to go home safe and the guys to be safe and keep them in the walls.

Man, as a dude with insomnia, I'd fucking die from sleep deprivation. I take 3 meds to get 4-5 hours of sleep a night. I know in there I ain't getting shit for meds then add the noise... I'd probably swan dive from the top tier.

This alone makes me realize why the inmates liked me and hated me on night shift. I left the lights out and used a hunting blood light (Dim as hell, but makes blood light up like a firework). Kept my keys actually in my pocket. I wasn't waking people up, but I sure was sneaking up on some shit.

Helpful hint, make some ear plugs until your commissary comes in if they have them because they are a must have. Just role some toilet paper up and use that or if you can get a rubber glove, take 2 of the fingers off and stuff them with some of the leftover rubber glove and tie it at the top of the finger in a knot to fit accordingly. If you stuff it with toilet paper it won't last long and the rubber works way better. Most places sell ear plugs tho on the commissary and they are green.

In Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 the idiots shout out their windows ALL night. Until someone tough enough gets sick of it. The noises (metal doors etc) and the smell are the first things that people notice here

When I was younger I was in prison a couple of times, the worst was Holloway. It’s a really old prison & I swear it’s haunted, everyone had heard & seen unexplainable things in there. I wonder if JD has experienced anything like that?
