A samurai had to be really careful with what you say or do. Each man represents the household. Acting, talking like a traitor would affect the whole family and their lord’s reputation. It might be really difficult to understand how Japanese were strict in taking responsibilities. Taking action in a rebellious form would be a disgrace.

Nobles had to be smart. Shouldn’t be short tempered. Especially at places where matsurigoto, political negotiations were going on.

People had to read between the lines.
Be really careful with words. Never talk back against people from a higher status.

Feudalism was seen in the Europe too right? It’s not so far from that.

In the novel, Usagi was not allowed seppuku but crucified which was for criminals and his swords were broken and buried in the eta ( lowest caste in Japan much like the untouchables of India ) village.

As far as I'm concerned Moeka Hoshi as Fuji stole every scene she was in.
She says more with her expressions than most say with 10 pages of dialog.
If there is indeed a second season, it would behoove them to bring back this absolutely fabulous actor.
