That this exquisite score didn't even get an Oscar nomination is a complete travesty.

"And now...you'll never be tired again." It is with this line that I remember my dear, beloved mom.

I recall that Bernard Herrmann said this is his favourite among all his film scores. To me, this film is breathlessly beautiful.

The swell of the finale music as the two ghosts stroll outside into the fog, together forever … a cinematic moment for the ages.

I'm a harpist--largely because of Herrmann's music. I've been lucky enough to play the overture to NORTH BY NORTHWEST and hopefully in September I'll be playing this suite and/or the VERTIGO Suite! Oh

As I sit, the tears streaming down my cheeks....it’s winding it’s way into my soul, and the beauty of it makes me weep.

The romance of Bernard Herrmann without the insane side. Vertigo is beautiful in places but there is definitely something not quite right with Jimmy and it’s all there in the music. This has a gentle ghostliness which also fits this film perfectly.

This is a movie and film score that escaped my viewing until just recently. I was captivated by the music before Hermann's name was on the screen. The movie is fabulous, the music is a masterpiece. At times, the film moved as if the music was leading the images, a Fantasy accompanied by a great movie.

I absolutely love this music, it's beautiful, and also haunting, and of course I could watch the movie over and over again, it's great!!!

LOVE this film and the gorgeous music score. A very little Natalie Wood played Gene Tierney's daughter. I loved the character of the captain by Rex Harrison. I found the part so realistic and devastating where Gene Tierney is charmed by the smooth talking George Sanders only to be shocked when she visits his house unannounced. I have always loved the name Lucia because of this film. Bernard Herrmann was a genius composer.

I remember being haunted by this movie as a child, when it would roll out on tv movie matinees. It was *always* the soundtrack, though I didn't realize it then.

Well before Jerry Zucker's "GHOST", this movie, beautifully interpreted and of a great aesthetic beauty, worn by two exceptional actors, leaves you with a deep melancholy in your heart and an unfinished feeling for such a beautiful and impossible love story. .

Great score! Herrmann obviously thought so himself as he used its beautiful main melody in his opera, "Wuthering Heights".... heart-melting stuff.
