The sad thing is that he couldve been the one to take down Homelander.
The suit that was designed for him was made to withstand the intensity of his fire which is about three to four times hotter than HLs lasers.
He could've tanked those laser blasts like they were nothing. Its a damn shame.

Honestly I just really love that they let him just, y'know, be a good guy? Especially with the flashbacks later on, it felt like such an easy cop-out to be like "oh yeah look at all the sleazy, horrible stuff this guy was up to, good riddance now, right?" It's what the comics would've done, and frankly with how dire and depressing the main show can feel at times, I'm really glad they didn't.

I think he was just tired of it all the complications that come with having powers and probably just wanted to be a normal guy. If he had been he wouldn't have had so many people involved in his life, it kinda sucks being known and always having people watching you wanting from you and wondering what you're doing all the time.
