Its a little depressing that I want to praise a rimworld video for having no misinformation in it, but thats the case here. Good video, good info.

just saying but an even better way to hunt thrumbo that i have found (and maybe others did before) is to use shock lance then once they are down set them to hunt and have a colonist "hunt" them while they are down to get a clean kill but throat cutting. avoiding the damaged 66% multiplier for big and valuable target like thrumbo can yield high enough profit to easily cover the cost of the shock lance with just the fur alone if you really need the money. otherwise you just effectively bought thrumbo fur for a discount by buying a shock lance with a not insignificant side of meat.

in the event that your target catches fire you need to wait for the burn to heal before you can finish it off which is surprisingly quick. however to avoid wasting another charge of an expensive shock lance i would recommend carrying the thrumbo to an animal sleeping spot and putting it under anesthesia for as long as it take for it to heal which is quick enough that anesthesia might not even be needed but it is a nice and cheap insurance.

so the optimal way to hunt thrumbo is effectively with 2 pawn 1 with a shock lance doing the downing and another that stays right next to the current target to pick it up right away if it catches fire to minimize the damage that needs to heal or even prevent it in some case if you are fast enough. also i will note that shock lance do not seem to register as an attack so other thrumbo don't turn hostile meaning it is perfectly safe to use even against large pack of thrumbo. it is both safer and more profitable to hunt thrumbo with shock lance.

however i will note that particularly inept butcher can still turn a loss so best to have a separate bill for thrumbo for your best butcher with every other bill excluding thrumbo just in case.

Man... I always make devilstrand gardens in maps with harsh winters and never thought to open the roofs during growing season and save power.

One tip as a humble contribution: Keep a small patch of nutrifungus connected to base by a vent to make kibble for your animals. Just uncheck it from your meal bill. It's great to avoid having to stock freezers.

Neat!
I learned 18 new things!
17 of which i will most likely use next time i play.
the grenading away excess items and corpses is the thing i probably wont use, nature shall take its course, may it be either claimed by decay.. or any merchant that wanders by

I've been making marble beds this whole time only to just realise it reduces rest effectiveness...

Grenade disposal: I don't know why people avoid using crematoriums for this task. ;) I take it a step further and have a mod for recycling gear items. Returns a small amount of the material, but nowhere near as much as it took to make it ( THough I think you can increase that in the options ). Corpses I just feed to the meat trees from Anomaly.

I think using spots to block transport pods might have been patched in 1.5? I haven’t tested but I thought I read that was the case.

Word of Serenity is pretty clutch for mental breaks also.

It’s good to mention that you must claim buildings before the enemy selects a target to path towards, to add those buildings to their possible random targets. So either before the raid shows up, or if they’re preparing then before they begin their attack. Though enemies will eventually repath if they destroy their intended target, become blocked by a building long enough, or sometimes if they get backed up by their allies long enough due to in-combat collision.
