Are Indians caucasians?

It’s complicated but the short answer is yes. Anthropologists classify race by bone structure not complexion. The bone structure of people from India is similar to the bone structure of Europeans. But not everyone classifies race that way. Most people go by color and most would simply call Indians brown or Southeast Asian.

Historically in the United States, East Indians self identify as white in order to distance themselves from African-Americans although Indians also refer to themselves as brown. There is sometimes a paranoid fear of being mistaken for Black people.

Nikki Haley, the Indian American ex governor of South Carolina, whose parents are from Punjab in Northwest India, identified as 'white' on her voter registration card in 2001. But she has called herself a person of color when it suited her politically.

So the answer to the question is Indians are caucasian but they are brown caucasians just as many Arabs are. In other words, all white people are Caucasians but not all Caucasians are white people.

As a Indian I can say,
Indians are mixture of 4 Races, Caucasian, Dravidian, Australoid and Mongoloid.
Extreme North i.e, kashmir Muslims of Kashmir are almost 100% Caucasian.
Then a gradient starts with high caucasian genes in North to high dravidian genes in south and and significant percentage of Mongoloid population in Himalayan zone with almost complete Mongoloid genes in North east.
Australoid admixture is seen in every population and is almost 100% in central indian and south indian tribal population.
South Indians are majorly admixture of Dravidian and Australoid population.
Therefore facial bone structure of people from different regions of India is very different.

in north india near Himalaya some people even have lighter skin tone than south Europeans they are literally pale as snow and indians have thousands of ethnic groups with all kind of skin tone white to black

Indians, especially from the North, are predominantly Caucasoid.
Central and Southern Indians are somewhat in the middle of Caucasoid and Non-caucasoid.

Western parts of India have lighter skin and more sharp caucasoid features, eastern parts have slightly darker skin and softer features and a Mongoloid influence.
This is esp true wrt Bengal and Assam.

Indians are simply Indians.
Indians are highly mixed and diverse so it's very misleading to categorize Indians under a simplistic categorization such as that

Indians are South Asian not South-East Asian. Most Indians look very different to Africans (Negroes) so I don't think they'd be mistaken for "black" people as you stated. People also start looking "brown" when you enter Southern Europe. Look at Luke Pasqualino and Jason Mantzoukas for examples.

Classifying race by colour alone is really unscientific so it is more logical to classify race by bone structure and genetics

"Caucasian" is just a vague term formed by americans because using better terminologies which are more accurate is too complicated for them.

Technically speaking, folks from around Caucasus mountains are caucasian, but western countries hijacked their term & started calling anybody of european heritage as caucasian. So it depends on what the meaning of caucasian is for different people.

The more accurate & updated term is "West Eurasian." If you notice, even though Europeans, Middle Easterners, some of North Africans & Northern South Asians(above Delhi region) are quite different in terms of appearance & genetics, yet they all have a sort of similar look which kind of homogenises them. This is called west eurasian ancestry.

Indians/South Asians are genetically exactly where they lie geographically i.e. in the middle of west eurasians & east eurasians, but slightly closer genetically to west eurasian.

The AASI component among south asians is what makes them unique & this component has been in the subcontinent for 50, 000+ yrs. This component is east eurasian, but since it had been isolated for so long, it became quite distinct from other east eurasians like japanese/chinese/indonesian. Indians from 7 sisters, Ladakh, many from himalayas are essentially east asian(east eurasian) dominant.

The west eurasian ancestry which makes Indians "caucasoid" looking is actually very recent. First it came through the Zagros people who mixed with local AASI(this happened in last 9, 000 yrs only) & created Indus Valley Civilization. After that it came through IndoEuropean steppe migrations(this is even more recent, started happening after 1800 BCE)

This is true. People may not realise this but the R1a family spreads from the tip of frozen Russia to the tip of southern Sri Lanka (Sinhalese). Im Sinhalese, r1a positive and the language we speak has insane similarities to Russians, Lithuanians etc to the point that words for things like numbers, fire, air, family relatives etc are almost identical. We are also culturally more similar to the Slavic peoples than Western Europeans.

White is a cross between White Vikings and Caucasian Russian/Georgians with black hair and dark eyes. You are not 1 bit of an Asian. Ino Aryan Use Sanskrit and Into Iranians are pure Aryans. Doesn't caucasian include traits like Hair colour, Eye colour, while Caucasoid only include Skull shape and structure?
