Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying is a song performed by the Liverpool rock group Gerry and the Pacemakers in 1964. It was written by Gerry Marsden, Fred Marsden, Les Chadwick, and Les Maguire. It reached number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the break through record for the group in the USA.

Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying

Don't let the sun catch you cryin'
The night's the time for all your tears
Your heart may be broken tonight
But tomorrow in the morning light
Don't let the sun catch you cryin'
The night-time shadows disappear
And with them go all your tears
For the morning will bring joy
For every girl and boy
So don't let the sun catch you cryin'
We know that cryin's not a bad thing
But stop your cryin' when the birds sing
It may be hard to discover
That you've been left for another
But don't forget that love's a game
And it can always come again
Oh don't let the sun catch you cryin'
Don't let the sun catch you cryin', oh no
Oh, oh, oh

I am an 80's teen. I recall years ago hearing this beautiful song for the first time. It reminds us that life is full of pain, but the sun does come up tomorrow, and another day offers promise.

This is one of the saddest times in our lives, with COVID-19 heartaches, and sadness, sleepless nights. This sing Brings back memories. Memories of Real love. I had a real first love. We'd dance to this song, as he sang in my ear. Oh my love, first love, young love. He broke my heart, left me for another, but my love lived on. He's long gone, passed away 😢. But my love lives on. He did show me beautiful love. And that's forever in my heart. R.I.P. my love. I loved US 💞

NEVER GIVE UP Upon waking, alone in my apartment, feeling down about my health and wondering what I should do...I thought it a good idea to take a walk but, after a cup of coffee and a slice of toast. It was a cold September day and the sky was blue. After leaving my apartment and coming to the main sidewalk, where I usually take a right, I took a left. A mile or so, I rested, took a few deep breaths, looked to the blue sky, and longed for the long-ago' spring in my step. A bit later, the coo of a Mourning Dove, alight on a branch and high above, got my attention. I looked and smiled, “Good morning, Mourning Dove”. I, then, let my gaze fall to a lower branch, where I beheld a single fading green stem and turning leaf, touched by a ray of sunlight. I walked over to the branch, and gently with thumb and forefinger, touched the 'holding on'. I felt a warmth, a determination, and on my walk back home, with the image of stem and leaf in mind, I felt a spring in my step; The leaf won't let go and neither shall I.theimage of that golden leaf, held me steadfast in the belief to never give up, always catch the sun.*

The soulful and mournful backing, along with the vocal, knocks it right out of the park. Great tune.

We had the pleasure of seeing Gerry on one of his 60s legends tours a couple of years ago. Who would have thought he'd have left us this year. Lovely fella, his iconic hits like this one will live on not just in Liverpool but everywhere. RIP Gerry.

One of the most beautiful, melancholy songs to come from that early period of the "British Invasion" in the mid-1960's.

So awful to hear of Gerry's passing....I adored him, he was such a huge part of the British invasion....he also passed away on the anniversary of my sister's death so it makes it much worse....Rest In Peace Gerry, I will always remember you and the music. 💜🌹💜
