Holy shit I am blown away by the comments made by Ed Jacyno. What a small minded point of view. You would think that someone who claims to have suffered the same abuse that people today are suffering that they should just turn the other cheek and ignore it. I can only imagine if he went back in time and told his younger self that, what he would do as a child. What a disgusting stance to take on this issue.

Some powerful remarks made by Councilor Kuehl during this meeting, I think he hits it right on the nose at 2:37:49 where Pembroke City Council is implying to their residents that flowers are more important than people. Councilor Purcell pointing out to Councilor Lafreniere at 3:04:49 is also eye opening, her lack of understanding of the use of "These People". Highlighting the reason why Pembroke still has a lot of work to do - even within the City Council. Her chosen language reminded me a lot of Don Cherry's use of "Those People" during his final Coach's Corner broadcast.

as someone who recently moved to Pembroke who identifies under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, I am now embarrassed to live here. I was reluctant to begin with as I have "heard" stories from family who live here that Petawawa is not all that of an inclusive community. I know the military base is up the road and according to a few military members that I know is a "hard army base that will never change their views", and I feel this has a lot to do with the mindset of these councillors... but it has to start somewhere and Pembroke Council should be ashamed! I hope those members who voted to rid the DAC don't have a child or family member who are gay. Sounds like councillor Jacyno needs some therapy to recover from his childhood trauma, and get in touch with the sign of the times!
