When it comes to the Finding Nemo franchise, Pixar really seemed to do it's research. Their fish science went the distance to make the movie feel as authentically under the sea as possible - mostly. You see, clownfish are very cool creatures, very RESOURCEFUL creatures. With Nemo's mom removed from the picture due to natural predators, Marlin stepped up to solo parent. One point for good dads! Except... maybe not? You see, we need to talk about Marlin.

It’s also may be worth mentioning that female clownfish attack male clownfish to keep them stressed out which prevents them from becoming female. So not only would Marlin have been emasculated by Coral not being around to get him to “man up” but she was physically abusive towards him!

Fun fact: Baracuda do not eat clownfish, but clownfish are cannibals and eat their own eggs. So some other theories I have heard have said that Coral ate the eggs, and Marlin made Nemo up in his head to cope. "Nemo" in Latin actually translates to "no one" or "nobody", meaning the title of the film could be finding no one.

Fun fact: clown fish will often try and scare bigger creatures away if you get close to their anemones, particularly after they’ve laid their eggs. They like zoom at you and sometimes they even boop your mask. They do that to me all the time as a scuba diver and it’s super duper cute.
