My main reservation about UBI is that if implemented widely without also restructuring the economy, companies would just adapt their strategies to maintain the same level of exploitation. Also, it's highly dependent on the super-rich and large corporations paying their taxes, else you'll just end up redistributing wealth from comfortable workers to poorer workers.

But there is a train of thought, and arguably one of the originals, that UBI was meant as a replacement to existing welfare programs, not a supplement because UBI is supposedly more efficient in handling resources as it has virtually no burocratic waste

I feel like if it's a series about sounding smart about a topic you should be able to make the argument for both cases. It would make your case sound stronger, even if you push for one over the other.

Saying UBI would positively impact GDP, is like saying breaking all windows in the town would be a boost to town's economy. All Windows would need to be repaired, workers would be paid, they would buy goods from local shops etc.

Question 1: How is it funded?
Answer 1: Through increases in taxation, or by banks taking interest free loans from the Federal Reserve using the value of currency as collateral.
