Not to downplay the benefits of rushing the lance but I think this deserves some clarification. This does not skip progression. Even if you grab flint in the Greylands and make your tools/weapons you will still be wearing starter armor, and before you can access Mirmek or Nok armor you need to grind silk in the Swamp and iron in the Greylands, so you'd probably walk back to Kalev and make your stone armor anyway. Not to mention the stinger lance will not help you rush bosses as the majority of them are resistant to pierce.

I realize I'm being nitpicky but your thumbnail prominently features the Formic gear which you will absolutely not access until after you grind silk in the swamp. I think viewers deserve to know this.

When it comes to most of the bugs that fly all you have to do is sneak and roll and you will stop agroing it. It's also a good way to kill hornets, bees, and wasps with a bow early game. Simply sneak and start shooting it. When the bug gets too far to shoot simply stand up and the bug will come back. Then just go back into sneak and roll a couple of times to stop the agro and start shooting it again. Repeat until it's dead.

Thanks Fire! I bought it but haven't dove into the game just yet. Been waiting for a day off to really really sink my teeth into it. I don't think your harming the game or anything via this video, it's just a "hey, you can do this if you want to" kinda thing. Kinda like finding some of the stuff in Grounded early, helps you really get a nice foothold in the world early.

I can confirm this still works and is worth it after 1.0 release and I play on Xbox. That's said, few pro tips becuase Fire made this look SO easy in the video (which, props my dude haha), but this took me longer than I want to admit lol.

Before you start heading to this, claim a tree. Make a bed and shelter, set it your spawn. Then head out. More on why later.

First and foremost: TURN OFF the world setting for items dropping on death. You can toggle this in the world settings you have to pass to log into your world. If you're in game, go to main menu, start entering your world again, but before you enter world, toggle the setting in the left window first, then enter.

These bugs hit like a truck. If you go down the wrong way or get off path from video and are low level, be prepared to get wrecked, or be hella crafty. I cannot tell you how crappy it is to die on your way before you get to a spot you can set bed and have to run all the way back and either waste time getting enough food to get to your items or risk running back with nothing. You can always toggle items drop on death back on after you get spear, if you'd like, but learn from my mistake and save yourself the trouble haha.

Once you've done this, you don't have to equip the item to keep it upon dying, or leave all inventory in a chest before dropping into tunnel. You just have to grab it, and since you keep items on death, you spawn back in the bed at the top of the tunnel with everything!

Second, when I got to the concrete stairs where the water bug is on my way to tunnel, both times, a storm (stairs seen at 3:32). This storm wrecked me both times and it took me coming back a third time ready to camp to make it past. You can be prepared for this and know when you get to the stairs and the storm is on, you're going to need enough mats for 4 walls, roof and a bed at least for shelter to avoid freezing to death.

The reason I suggested claiming a tree at the beginning and making a bed there BEFORE you start heading to spear is becuase once you're all done, you've got the spear and/or your fill of Flint and scary bugs, you can save yourself the trouble of having to run back by dismantling the foundation/bed you made in the tunnel, and just returning to main menu, IE logging out. When you have no bed left and log back in, volia! It spawns you at the tree you clamied by default and you're all done, safe and sound!

I started running to get the spear at 5:30 am, thinking it'd be super quick, didn't get done until 8:30 am. I HATE admitting how much this was a pain for me, but I hope something in this comment helps someone else have an easier time!

Claim a tree on the way. Remove the bed and then just restart the game. Voila you are in base with the weapon. But honestly if you are new, you are better of just enjoying the game from the beginning and experiencing everything on your own. For the last part of the video, just make the cockroach and the hornet fight and you kill both easily without taking dmg.

Just went today and found the body no problem but there is no spear there, killed the bugs but nothing there.

FYI holding a direction while in air even on non flying mount has ABSOLUTELY no effect on direction. I hate it an i wish they would fix that. But realistically you can't do it so i guess i understand why you can't move mid air
