How to Create a Static Route on UniFi Dream Machine / Pro

This tutorial goes over how to create a static route on a UniFi Router such as a UniFi Dream Machine or Dream Machine Pro. This is great for VPN servers that are hosted on the local network, or can even speed up your internet traffic should you ISP have poor routes for you to choose from.

You haven't explained what Distance means very clearly. This is Administrative Distance, which is a way to allow you to have multiple routes to the same network via different next hops. A lower distance is preferred. A home network administrator probably won't be able to take advantage of this, but it can be very helpful on a larger network.

Hi, can I use static route to connect two UDM Pro in different location over LAN (fiber port - don't by internet), or another one setup? I need keep ech one completly dedicated by each site and each one with his two WANs (to failover) and differents DHCP server ranges running (one 192.168.24.1 anda another 192.168.1.1). Or should I use Site to Site VPN setup, even over LAN. Thank you !!!

I have 2 sets of IP subnets on my router. One is only used for my VoIP phones and VoIP server. The other is used for everything else. If I’m on my computer and connected to ExpressVPN which is a paid for service, I cannot access my VoIP subnet. The firewall on the VoIP server blocks me. Would static routes be a good way to route to my VoIP server even if I’m connected to vpn? I’m not sure why it’s going outside of my house. Both subnets are inside my house so it’s strange that it would be looking outside first when I’m connected to the VPN service.

I have the UDM Pro. I have 2 networks defined (192.168.0.0/24) and (10.0.0.0/8). The problem is that hosts on these networks cannot talk to each other. Im not clear on how to fix this issue.
