How to STOP your dog from whining from anxiety 😦

I can't stop on a walk for like 1 min without a bunch of whining. I can't stop to talk to anyone, nothing without my dog acting like he's dieing. I feel like this works but also doesn't.

This isn't realistic for dogs that literally whine constantly like mine. It doesn't matter what we're doing. We could be out on an actual walk and if we stop for two seconds for his sister to pee, he's fucking whining again. He's done it since he was born and it's finally wearing on me 3.5 years later. I swear it's getting worse as he gets older too.

I have watched your videos for months I work with dogs and I must say the insight you have provided me when I see dogs everyday is insane. I rescued my 1-2 year old GSD and she is perfect I’ve implemented so many of your trainings into our daily routines and it helped make adjustments that bettered both of our lives

Nooo, I need a long term solution 😢 my Aussie cries our entire walk, I breakdown in tears because it’s so early piercing, I literally don’t know what to do, I’ve done the circles, I’ve used leash tension and release, I’ve done the treats, she just WONT STOP CRYING.

Hmm this seems like it would reinforce the whining by giving them an out, idk if this is the right move. You need to teach them how to self-soothe by working it.

We would do behavioral downs where we would just wait until the dog stopped whining before giving verbal praise and moving forward. In the beginning, this would sometimes take 30-45 minutes, but after a month of working it he would transition to a calm pant within 15 seconds.

You do have to train it in some different environments though so that they can learn to calm themselves wherever you go

A vibrating collar worked to redirect my overly needy whiner. But it came off and he chewed it. The whining is back with an annoying vengeance

Mine was excessively vocal in the car (passed away now) but oh my gosh, sounded like he was being tortured. I didn't mind him being vocal but this was extreme. I'd love to see how you tackle anxiety in the car.

Having dogs fore more than 25 years, pitbulls, English bull terriers, cane Corso and now a Dogo Argentino/pitbull crossbreed never, ever had to use a prong collar neither a muzzle I just trained my dogs from puppy in the right way so they never pulled on the leash and all my dogs where trained to guard my property, lots of love, patience a silk glove and no fysical punishment is the only way to properly train any dog all the rest is BS

Doesn't work at all especially if they're not on leash. You're doing what they want to do so definitely reinforcing the whine.

Ridiculous. It's whining for attention and anxiety. You ignore the dog until it's stops whining, it learns whining doesn't get it attention.

My Toy Australian Shepherd whines a lot when she is excited like I do 4h with her so basically a lot of agility and she knows when we get near the building where we yrain and she gets so excited and basically yells in our ears since she is so excited

I always thought this whining was stress like "I dont know what to do with myself" from lack of structure/leadership, not practicing longer stays or calmness. Is there ever a time where it's ok to correct whining?
