You dont have a passenger on the first runs, also you have different weather conditions, and you are testing on different stretches of road. You might as well roll a dice, that is how accurate your two tests compare.

This "pay for upgrade" scheme just means that the car was always capable of being that fast, they just decided to charge you extra for it.

How sad this is the new normal. Program an artificial limitation that makes the product worse, and charge money for an update that removes this artificial limitation. It is crazy that labor is wasted to make the product worse, but it makes them money so they do this.

This is the worst test ever lol. Different road, different conditions, looks like there a slope? And you have extra 150-200 lbs inside your car (a passenger)... Very scientific :)

Everything that lets your car physically do that you paid for when you bought the car.

This is just like a company selling you heated seats as a subscription.
Or extended range on a electric motorcycle as an add on.

They didn't sell you the physical components at a loss in the hopes enough people would buy the upgrade.

It is pure greed.

And, I had to notice, it didn't seem to deliver what it promised. None of the times were close enough to 3.5 to justify advertising that time, imo.

You were driving downhill for the benchmark

I installed the harness instead to bypass the limited I get 0-60 in 3.5 to 3.8 seconds constantly

I got the boost for free when they were giving 1000points for demo drive referrals and it cost 9500 points. Soooo it was worth it no matter what the results are but I notice it much more in the rolling acceleration. So on the highway and I hit it it seems like that is where it shines. But I didn't do any before tests. Is it worth the $??? that's a judgement call but its defiantly got more get up and go. IMHO I think a lot more.

Do you have any intel on performance / speed number above 0-60MPH? Like 0-100MPH difference, or top end (max is 145MPH on stock Model3 LR)?

I think you would see the greatest advantage accelerating to 100 miles an hour not just to 60. The 60 mph Numbers with the acceleration boost don’t really justify the price. I think that the boost really kicks in in that 60 to 100 mph range.

Did you have a passenger during ALL the tests?

TESLA needs to bump up their fully loaded packages. instead of wacking their customers with this ridiculous modification add it to their existing software include the boost in the options mode normal sport an adrenaline . excellernt selling point in advertising promoting their ev sales.

Very poor test. You have a passenger on second run and different road and probably cold tyres, 1st and 2nd not a true comparison.

I don't have the same view as a lot of commentators in here. I see Tesla saying, "You can pay the full price for the model 3 long range with the 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds OR... OR... we scale your 0-60 time back a half second to 4.2 second and you can buy it back for $2000 later".

You know 99% of you brokies will choose to save 2000 dollars and choose the second option! Tesla did y'all a favor, so quit your whining. For half a second faster ICE car tuners will spend their yearly salary just to shave a half second. I witnessed this myself. The guy was broke all the time cuz he spent all his money on his Mustang. He was super happy to get its 0-60 time down to 4.8 seconds. So imagine what he would be like if y'all come to him and say, "for $2K, I can get my 0-60 time down to 3.7 seconds with a click of a button and nothing else". He probably would tell you to get bent and to quit smoking crack. 😂

Y'all need to quit complaining and appreciate things a little bit more.

Pointless upgrade? I mean why? It’s such an insignificant difference on a road it’s just a gimmick.

Dude just paid 2000$ (in points) for a 0.2 second reduction.. lame.
Tesla WTF.

Imagine to spend 2000 dollars to get a change in the software of the car that you already own just to make a slight change in the acceleration that according to this video is not significant nor it adds real value to the user… and this is coming from someone that would keep choosing Tesla as a favorite car
