The 2026 regulations have been presented to the F1 world, and it seems like the drivers have mixed feelings when it comes to whether or not they will be an improvement for the sport. Although the FIA has taken a drastic approach and is returning to the ‘2000s’ vibes with the new cars, the weight as well as some other components, like the size of the cars, were still brought into question. With this in mind, how do the F1 drivers feel about the new regulations, and more importantly, can they urge the FIA to change something about them?

In today's video we look at New Details of the 2026 cars released!...Keep watching to see Formula 1 history, F1 car evolution, Engineering of F1 cars, Aerodynamics in Formula 1, F1 car technology, Evolution of Formula 1 vehicles, F1 car design, f1 Motorsport engineering, Formula 1 innovation, F1 car development, Science of F1 racing, F1 car anatomy, Historical F1 cars, f1 Racing technology explained, Formula 1 engineering secrets, 2026 formula 1 Regulations, 2026 formula 1 car

It's SCREAMING SLOW SLOW SLOW!
What are your views on the 2026 car regulations? Give us a like if you enjoyed the video.
I think they just changed the size of the car to satisfy Monaco's narrow track. LOL🤔

How about making the hybrid cars disappear, which would reduce weight and size by an order of magnitude? Naturally aspirated V-10's or at least V-8's fueled by alternative fuels as Seb has been advocating for would make a huge difference as well in not only sound, but also reliability, which can introduce some drama. I remember the 90's when the grid was full of great drivers and races that could be won by any of the drivers on any given Sunday.

Less tire contact patch, 30% less downforce. Stupid heavy batteries. This is a farce.

Drop Battery power, it's massively environmentally damaging and it's not a long-term solution for the future of automotive transportation. Switch to environmentally friendly fuels and bring the noise back.

They really should just go back to NA V8’s or V10’s with biofuel.

The fact alone that Audi and Cadillac want to join now that the MGU-H is gone, shows you no one gave a damn about road relevance in the first place.

They want to join for the money, advertising and the prestige of winning.

We’re gonna hear about how designing a V6 without an MGU-H is like “designing a whole new engine.” Well if that’s the case, let’s do that.

Maybe road relevance was a thing in 1970, not in 2024. There’s a big difference between an engine designed to operate most of its time at wide open throttle, vs one designed to operate at 20% load most of the time.

This is sport, this is entertainment. It’s not about just making “more noise” it’s about making “better sound”.

V 10's on alternative fuel. The current regulations are. . . Not very good as far as bringing in spectators, nor do they excite the drivers or teams. Bring back V10's on alternate fuel as Seb has said. This should be the best way forward.

F1 should be the focus of tech, not following an EV trend! Hydrogen ICE's that is the kind of development we expect, just like Turbos in the 70/80s, active suspension from Williams. Why follow? Lead

Go back to a v10 scrap the hybrid just switch to alternative fuel that burns cleaner.

Nobody asked for MORE hybrid. Get rid of it altogether

They still won’t be able to overtake in Monaco 😂

Adrian Newey says they will have to map for the engines to be reving in the slow speed corners to recover the energy

Why not just go all the way and make them Radio controlled for safety? 50cc running methanol and nitromethane and cap max weight at 50 kilos. Be just as exciting as the new rules....

One thing to address here. Why don't they just loosen the engine regulations if they really are interested in "going back to the old days". There's a reason why the lmp1 development battle until 2017 is still interesting despite only having 3-4 teams at the top, because they all have different approaches on their engines. The only thing f1 have to limit is fuel flow and budget, automatically pushing engine manufacturers to make efficient engines without forcing it all to be v6. Let some make an I4, or maybe V8 TT, or even V6 TT hot vee like what ferrari is doing again now.

I’m confused as to how they want more battery but less weight

Batteries need to be used for roughly 4.7 years before they become neutral when compared with a petrol equivalent in terms of their relative environmental impact so it's farcical to say this is more friendly to the planet. Also 30KG less weight with a much smaller car with smaller tyres means the cars will not only be slower but have worse handling.

i've thought the 18 inch wheels were pointless from the beginning, how about we go back to smaller ones? it's a free way to reduce weight and drag

I couldn't give 2 fks about sustainability in F1. Drive fast.

Why bigger batteries? if your trying to reduce the weight, just get rid of them, there's the 30kgs. Society needs to understand that electric cars are not the future and are not as good for the environment as they might seem. Eco friendly fuel has too great potential to even consider electric cars for the future, there's already 1.5 billion gas cars, just fix those with efuel. Even though those cars will possibly break top speed records for F1, electrification just takes too big of a role. Can we also talk about how terrible the rear wing looks from behind?

You want to get rid of outwash/inwash, get rid of the front wings. Take inspiration from the original ground effect cars of the late 70's early 80's. Lengthen the sidepods up to the rear of the front wheels, move the venturi section of the underfloor further forward as in the original ground effect cars. The centre of pressure moves forward, no front wing's means no front downforce loss when following close to another car. The car in front has no advantage in front downforce either, as the both have no front wing. Cars will be able to follow others far more closely through corners.

Terrible stuff Zero Emissions and Hybrids just bring back V10s
