Love the end result! Going through your new sky replacement course right now. It’s great - worth it for the libraries of replacement skies alone!

You are the best Serge, trust me. The way you explain everything is amazing, I can't get tired of your videos because they are really helpful. When I wanted to start editing my pictures I discover your channel, around 5/6 years ago and still helps me everytime. Amazing content for real. Greatings from Portugal!

That's why luminar 4 features are so cool, the fact that you can endlessly replace skies with one click.
I am so disappointed by the fact that adobe sucks at adding AI features for retouching and color grading.

Very informative and well produced, as always. However, I would never bring the image back into Lightroom and make additional corrections because (it has happened to me) Lightroom has crashed and my catalogue was screwed up as well as my back up. You could have used the Camera Raw Filter in Photoshop and made the same corrections as you did in Lightroom and then save as PSD. That way you never have to worry about anything happening with Lightroom. Further if you wanted the ability to reset the image, like Lightroom, you could have made the photo a "smart object" in Photoshop. This is just something that I routinely do after processing hundreds of thousands of photos and having been a professional photographer for 50+ years. Just a suggestion.

Always learn a lot from Serge!! Too bad this isn't using PSE.
Set at .75 on playback speed to keep up with the great detail !!!

Hey Serge.... You can "developper une photo" en Francais, but that doesn't mean that you can say "double development" in English. In the US, they don't develop you see, they process instead.... Pas grave, juste one 'tite note.

Nice tuto. I am fan of this technique.
About adding skies in photoshop libraries, in my case, all skies were renamed like background1... while i see your files seem to keep their names sunset-1... Did Adobe fix that bug ?

Bonjour Serge,
I discovered your youtube channel with confinement and I love it! Very fresh, full of anthusiams and very practical! I have a question now: why are you making a vertical copy of you sky at the beginning rather than not only keeping the new sky on top in replacement of the old sky ? What’s the reason to also copy a new sky at the bottom (under the horizon line)?
Thank you.

Serge: How did you get the collection of skies in the right side of the PS screen? This possibility of dragging and evaluating different skies is more fast than searching for one sky, then Cmd+a, Cmd+c, Cmd+V etc.
2nd. question Luminar does a great job. How much you cover Luminar in your course.

What do you usually talk at the intro? Boungiorno, I'm Serge Ramelli? I cannot caught it well.

Curious why you aligned horizon instead of doing vertical alignment on buildings (which we know are truly vertical).

The problem with this is the angle of the sun is totally wrong and you can see it from the reflections on the west side of the Empire State Building and on another building in downtown Manhattan. From the Top of the Rock, looking towards the Empire State Building, you are looking south, south west and even on December 21 (winter solstice) the sun would never set behind the Empire State Building from the Top of the Rock. On winter solstice, from that angle, the sun set would not even have been in the frame, it would have been to the right, well to the right of the Statue of Liberty. If you don't believe me, look it up on The Photographer's Ephemeris. If you're going to replace skies, at least try to keep it real, although that's an oxymoron, because it's impossible to keep it real. And if you do replace skies and you are trying to sell your image as a piece of fine art, be honest and tell your viewer, or potential buyer what you've done, then let them decide if they want to buy it. Better still, take the photograph with a decent sky, New York has no shortage of them.
