What’s 1 thing you wish you never heard?

This question was suggested by my friend John! I met him a few months ago on a bench at Balboa Park. Since then every time he sees me filming he asks about my question for the day.. we typically talk for 30 minutes discussing the question and so much more. Recently, he came up to me and said that he had an interesting question for me to ask strangers.. and this was it. He said that his answer would be- when he found out on average there are 12 dead spiders in a jar of peanut butter. He wishes he never heard that because he loves peanut butter!!

-My mother, who’s brother molested me when I was 7 years old.

My dad, to my little brother who was 4-5 years old at the time, while he was on a jealous rage bc my mom saw someone she used to like at my cousin's wedding. My family was trying to calm my dad when my little brother ran up to him saying 'daddy, daddy'. Broke my heart to hear what he said to my brother and his image in me shattered from that day on too.

"Why did you make me meet him!?!"
- Screaming at me in tears, my 10 year old son after waiting 3 years to meet his birth father who apparently was finally ready. My son was so excited, dressed up and ran up to hug him but was given a "handshake" and wouldn't speak to our son. He broke down and it was the most painful experience and guilt I've lived with in this life. Almost 8 years later that day still haunts me, along with all the abandonment issues he has suffered with it.

Mom:”I stayed with your father even after he beaten me, threaten me, cheated on me because I wanted you guys to have a father” This broke my heart because my mother suffered a lot. She could have been with someone that makes her happy and safe. My dad has gotten help from the church 6 years back. He’s better than he was, and I love him. But I will never forget what he has done to my mother. :/

“you’re boring to talk to” a girl at school, 11 years.. not terrible but after that i stopped being social and talking to people i didn’t want them to think i’m boring lol but i kind of got over it and started becoming social again when i turned 19ish .. it’s sad how such a small comment can’t be forgotten and effect someone greatly

My dad told me when I was 4 after my mom hit him in the face with a dresser drawer during a fight. His face was gushing blood and he died a little less then a year later from complications while in a coma.

When my best friend was talking about me to her other friend about my weight: “she can’t borrow my bathing suit, she wouldn’t fit in it anyway, she’s too fat.” We were the same size...

I will forever remember the way the words fell out of my mothers mouth, and how I felt months after I found out all of these things. My heart goes to each and every person that has lost a loved one. I haven't physically lost my father, but I will never truly have him again. I love him even to this day, even as I know what I do. I have not ever been able to address the fact that I know these until two days ago.

My mom told me that. She and Dad were fighting in front of me because they were trying to figure out my treatment plan. They are divorced. At that time I was disabled by a stage 4 colon cancer (Adenocarcinoma). And she was so angry that she looked at me and said that. At that moment I felt so shitty and sad because I’m causing her such trouble for something I can’t control. As if she had a son that was “damaged goods” rather than whatever she wanted me to be. I remeber thinking that I have made a bad decision before. That I hadn’t committed suicide before 4 months and had decided to keep on living... I felt like that was a bad decision
