Overly sarcastic productions is comprised of two individuals, Blue is the guy in the video and there's a girl named Red as far as their caricatures go. The guy blew tends to do exclusively history videos while the girl does mythological and narrative videos. Both are absolutely great at what they do and the channel is pure gold dating back content as far as 7 years and I'm not sure how big of a myth fan You are but whether it's history or mythos this channel is honestly so worth it

"He died as he lived, not dying of poison." Is one of my favorite jokes made by a history youtuber

A note about Mithridates: Venom is not poisonous. You can drink snake venom without harm as long as it doesn't reach your bloodstream.

But you wouldn't expect people from his time to know that, so for them it was a big thing.

The attempted kidnapping of Princess Anne by Ian Ball....when he pointed the gun at her and said get out of the car, she replied "not bloody likely". We Brits know which parent she takes after!

I remember Richard Hammond actually recreating the Gunpowder treason plot with the exact amount and kind of powder and building a replica of the parliament building at the time. When they blew it up, the gunpowder was enough to not only kill the king, but literally blow up the parliament building sky high.

My daughters & I love all their videos. Red does literature & mythology. She also does all the artwork but is a math major. Go figure. Blue does all the history stuff. I really recommend his Alexander the Great, Scotland, Ireland & Colonialism videos...actually they're all pretty fun

Two channels I love- I am so very, very glad to see you reacting to OSP. I slammed "watch" so fast when I saw the note, because I recog ized their video and was like "let's do this."

Oooh! You've gotten into OSP! I'd recommend the "Pope Fights" series, plus his Alexander the Great and "Greek Wise Guys" videos.

The Stauffenberg assasination attempt of Hitler comes to mind as a german when I think about impactful assasinations that almost succeded.

Oh hey, you're into Blue's history videos... if you do more, be aware he does sneak quick "jabs" in there like he did with 'Pompey the Headless'. The good news is how most of his stuff is basically in the spirit of what my parents would call 'Western Civ material', and it's one of his passions. He has done other stuff too, and there's a lot of research and effort gone into it. (When you get to them, check out some of the maps he sets up... some are simply insane.)

... and he's not been perfect, sometimes putting the wrong flags up for instance, but usually a top comment is him admitting the mistake or he mentions it in the description.

OSP is an amazing channel for those wanting some quickfire summaries of mythology, history, and a lot of other stuff. I highly recommend their videos on The Illiad, The Odyssey, and The Aeneid if you're interested in the mythology of the Trojan War

Honestly, any video from this channel is Gold! From Blue (the historical one), his Pope fight videos are great. From Red (the literature and mythological one and personally my fav), her vid on the zodiac is one of my favorites as are her videos on specific gods and tracing how they came to be all the way to modern days.

In high school (or Austrian equivalent) history class I picked "Assassination Attempts on Adolf Hitler" as presentation topic (thinking of the few more famous ones) only to learn that there are 42 known and documented attempts with some sources saying a number of 100+ could be feasible. I decided to only do a best off, because there are just way too many to present to class in 20 minutes some of the ways in which they failed were almost comical. Some of them included:
- 1934 Van Pappen's speechwriter wanted to shoot him, but didn't because he feared it might make him a martyr
- 1937 A bomb is planted, but not primed because the assassin is locked in a bathroom stall by accident
- Nov 1939 Hitler leaves 10 minutes earlier than planned and is not hit by the bomb in the "Bürgerbräukeller"
- 3 days later Erich Kordt planned to blow up the "Reichskanzlei" and is only unsuccessful because due to the attempt 3 days earlier security is tightened
- 1943 a planned bombing attempt at a presentation of new Wehrmachtuniforms fails, because a british bombing run destroyed the uniforms
- 1944 Eddie Chapman offers to suicide bomb Hitler, but MI5 declines, because he had a criminal past, also british leadership would rather capture Hitler alive

The one in my head, as a catholic of course: John Paul II, the bullet went its way SO CLOSE to any critical point that it was said: "one hand pulled the trigger, but another guided the bullet"

If you do plan on making a video about how failed assassination attempts could've changed history please make sure to include the one from Stauffenberg.
