Who's here after PS Plus lineup reveal? Looks so nice, give it a try for sure!

To be honest I'm liking how loot is handled in this game, though I'd struggle to even call it loot. Most loot based RPGs just dump dozens of trash gear on you and that very quickly makes looting feel tedious and waters down moments of finding something you actually want to equip. In this game when you find gear it feels like you made a significant discovery. Not to mention it makes upgrading your weapons and armor more meaningful since you're not always thinking 'I'm gonna upgrade this and then sell it after finding something better in an hour aren't I?'

I'm still gonna play this from the point of view of a surviving human in the Darksiders universe.

I love this game. No lag, no bugs and tight controls.

Heads up as the spiked difficulty is deliberate but you understand it.

The game scaling works like this: Every level has a MINIMUM level the enemies in that area are and is higher based on what level(Earth, Rhom, Corsus, and Yaesha in that order). BUT there is enemy scaling on your gear. The FIRST time you load into a new zone/area the enemies will scale based on your average gear learning more towards the highest +1. So if your highest upgraded gear is say 5 (and lets just say the rest of the gear is the same to average it to the same number) the enemies on that level will be 6.

However if you went to that level and the minimum level of those enemies are 10, that's what they'll be and you'll need to upgrade your weapon (for damage) and armor (for damage mitigation) if you want to deal with them "easily". So don't worry about "accidentally" upgrading gear too far. All that means is that your weapon and armor will always be 100% effective (at least on normal). Your Traits on the other hand are not considered in the scaling so this will be your major power creep.

Any stage you've previously went to WILL NOT SCALE to your current gear. It'll stay whatever level they were when you loaded it. Once you reset the campaign though everything on will scale. For example if you reset at a gear score of 10 then level 1 zone 1 will be level 11 (as they are +1).

WARNING FOR THOSE UPGRADING AND PLAYING WITH FRIENDS: I did say it doesn't matter about upgrading too far HOWEVER when playing with other people the game scales in 3 ways. 1) The enemy health, damage, and I believe spawn rate/amount increase with amount of players (this applies to both 2 and 3). 2) If everyone is within 3 levels of each other the the enemies will scale to the host. 3) If everyone is not within 3 levels of each other then the enemy will scale off of the highest level player.

So if you upgrade too far ahead of your friend, your friend may have a hard to dealing and taking damage because of the scaling to you (highest level player) .

The boss at 3:23 totally feels like a reference to the moonlit butterfly from Dark Souls 1.

The gear is NOT underwhelming by any stretch of the imagination. And the dodging is fine when use use light armour, in this videos example he was wearing the heaviest armor which makes your roll slower. Theres also a ring to improve your roll

Just another example that Dark Souls didn't create a new difficulty, but a new genre.

Totally agree with the review except for one thing, which is suprsing for an IGN review. But I agree, I'm really loving everything about the game, but it is really annoying not having armour drop, the only way to get it is from secrets or puzzles etc.

Yo the free game line up this month is legendary lol.

The devs clearly said this isnt a looter shooter. They said every item or weapon you get means something. They hold weight in the game. Its not like every other game where enemies are constantly dropping stuff that you dont even pick up.

My takeaway from this review is that dark souls is one of the best games of all time and has changed games forever, in a way few games ever could

At last. A Souls-like that allows straight forward cooperative play. About time!
