Technically speaking he was the perfect sprinter specimen

Great runner who would be the greatest of all time if he wasn’t the third fastest runner in his own country in the 2010s.

I’m still in awe of his sprint mechanics

He was crazy. Underrated under appreciated by even his own people.

My favorite sprinter. Look at his technique! PERFECTION. Mental is the only reason he’s not double Olympic champ in 100.

I think that Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt are both great runners. Although they ran against each other, they were in two different time zones because when Asafa was breaking those records, bolt were coming of age. They are both great runners and both great champions. Big ups to both of those gentlemen.

He didn’t “choke” on the big stages. Every major meet he went to injured. It’s similar to Elaine now. He didn’t complain because he was the face of Jamaica’s sprinting before Bolt came along. Those who know, know.

He actually broke the record 4 times... 3 of them was HIS OWN RECORD

My favorite, I still love him. It wasn't choking. It was a spiritual fight...

He was such a shy and quiet individual. I knew him from our drag racing days and he would pull up, go off to the side, lean on his car, and just watch races. No interaction with the spectators or other racers. Every now and then he would pull up to the line but windows are midnight black with tints and he would launch his car, win or lose a race and then go right back to himself. I wish he had the confidence and ego that he has now with his YouTube Ch and being outspoken on TV and Social Media. Times have really changed and he was an amazing sprinter. Sorry he didn't handle the biggest pressures on the track well.

Asafa Powell came and trained at one of our local tracks during an offseason. Getting to see how he held his form with every stride, how much distance he covered with each stride and how quick his turn over was, up close in-person made everyone at practice want to change their form.

Its not just the mental factor he has a strong mentality but often raced with injuries. Listen to his interview withJustin gatlin.

Asafa was his own worst enemy i still think about how great he could have been if he had that hunger to be the greatest cause he had everything to beat even Bolt.
