Worst part is that a lot of Dutch farmers are in debt with banks because they had to make a lot of changes to their farms. And now they get told to either quit or reduce their income.

Overregulate farmers, they go out of business. The difference is the government won't buy up all the farms in America, they'll just let ADM buy them all. But no matter how it goes, prices will go up, people will go hungry, people will become poorer, and we become South Africa. I used to think Hunger Games was kind of a silly book.

This has a lot to do with the ESG ratings imposed by Wall Street corporations & investors and the desire of the governments of these countries to have high ESG ratings so they can attract investors. Regulations made on farmers and working class from elites and Wall Street who know nothing about food production.

It all reminds me of MOA wishing to scare off the birds from the fields, and for people to focus on pig iron instead of food creation causing mass starvation in the late 1960s or the "collecting of the Kulacs" and sending them to the gulags. both were radical actions and lead to mass starvation. Its amayzing that this ideology has suddenly gripped so much of the world.

Farming is a really difficult, highly skilled and capital-intensive endeavor. They'll rue the day they ruin this - masses of people with pitchforks marching on the castle is not a good retirement plan for woke bureaucrats.

He somehow did not talk about a court decision in 2019 that "legally binds" the Dutch government to the emission reduction commitments made in the COP21 in Paris back in 2015, which also include a cull in emissions from carbon and nitrogen. This was due to the activism of environmental activists and neighbourhood associations, which are very powerful in the Netherlands. So it is not something that was imposed from the exterior (the EU), but it is something that was imposed from within (some Dutch citizens).
