From practicality and good looks, to engaging driving characteristics, the latest 2022 Mazda 2 is a serious contender in the supermini lineup in the car market. While other auto brands seek efficiency through small capacity turbochargers and engines, Mazda likes to stick to larger, naturally-aspirated engines that give their punchy performance and decent economy.
The Mazda 2's spacious, well-designed interior has a high quality feel for the most part, and the Mazda 2 is of good value as well as safe too. With the low running costs and a strong demand for used versions meaning residual values should stay quite healthy, the all new Mazda 2 is a supermini that can attract to the head and heart.
Mazda has added the G15 Pure SP to the Mazda 2 range, building on the G15 Pure with black exterior highlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, and contrasted with red in the interior. All variants now have seat-belt reminders, alerting the driver to potential occupants in the back row.
Buyers have the option of eight paint colors, along with new metallic platinum quartz being added. In contrast, sedan buyers can also choose a metallic polymetal gray for an additional $495, which was previously only available on the hatch.

A new G15 Pure SP trim level boasts some minor exterior and interior changes. The Mazda 2 is exclusive to the hatchback and is only available with a six-speed automatic.
Mazda has also cut the G15 Pure manual sedan from the range for the 2022 model, leaving only the G15 Pure hatch with a manual option. The manual only accounts for around 1% of total Mazda 2 sales.
There's a new paint color, Platinum Quartz Metallic, that is available across the range. Polymetal Gray, which is reserved exclusively for the hatchback, is now available on the sedan variant.
The all new Mazda 2 might be the company's smallest car, but there are various small Mazdas in the company's history. One of Mazda's first cars was the Mazda Carol, a tiny saloon with a 360cc petrol engine. And since then, Mazda has offered the 121 and the Demio, and the others are what the Mazda 2 is called back in Japan. While the latest Mazda 2 is produced in Thailand and Mexico, UK cars are built in Japan.
If you happen to be looking for something different from your supermini, the Mazda 2 could be right up your budget. The current vehicle is the Mk4, which was introduced in 2014.
