Considering the amount of time you spent with Mr. Casey on the first pair, it is surprising that the fit was so out, especially as I think these issues were obvious earlier on in the making process. As an anecdote, there is a recording of Mozart's symphony No. 39 that Arturo Toscanini made with the NBC Symphony Orchestra in the late 1940s which is very fast and somewhat aggressive even. I found out years after getting to know this recording that the great maestro had turned up to the NBC studio in a new pair of bespoke shoes and they were horribly tight. He was furious! So I salute you, Kirby, for your forbearance :).

Wonderful shoe Kirby, I love the shade of brown. It was immediate obvious as soon as you put them side by side how much more volume there was in the black pair.

Of course this is just the first pair and once the adjustments are done I don’t think these issues happen with subsequent pairs.

It’s exactly the same in a made to measure suit, generally one or two fittings before the right fit is found.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished suede pair.
Just to let you know as well, the laces have not arrived yet, no worries if it’s not possible but I wanted to let you know just in case you had sent them and they got lost in the mail.

For most guy suede is so most underrated.

Suede makes you look put togheter but not in a overprotentius way. It is a kind of effortless look.

Would like you in a black suede as well.

Great discussion on fit, and interesting that even with bespoke the last isn't perfect the first time. I've always had trouble finding the right fit (especially around the heel), so for those of us not yet in the bespoke market can you give some recommendations on brands that have a good selection of narrow fits (B or C)? Or more generally, I'd love to hear what bespoke makers have to say about what is important regarding fit in a ready to wear shoe.

Wouldn't it technically be possible to make a picture of your foot with a smartphone and automatically end up with a print for the leather?
