Old Tesla S85 v newer S75 - how do they compare for range, efficiency and charging. (Both RWD)

How does an older S85 compare v a newer S75 ?

We handicap the s85 with the less efficient 21” turbine wheels inadvertently but none the less let’s see if the useable real world range is better on one or the other….

We drive them in convoy at the same speed at the same time.
Does one charge faster or slower than the other?

We find out!

A very interestung comparison! Wow!
Guys...I miss the numbers on the screen a lot! Even the miles are hard to deal with (I am from Hungary) and you say the values so quick that it is hard to convert and compare in my mind. Please consider for the next video to put the measurement data on the screen (maybe converted to Wh/km). Thanks a lot.

This is why I have a S75! And yes, I have managed to squeeze 240miles out of one charge while driving at the speed limit, or as fast as traffic would allow.

Love my Model S 75. Perfect balance between price, performance and range. Mine was an upgrade from a Model 3 SR as you’ve suggested.
Useful video for future people considering this option.

We have a 2015 S85. Driving on 19" rims gets you more range. We've had ours over 3 years and the car still gets 255 at 90%. We've been using the Superchargers 95% of the time. Wonder if that made a difference.
Thanks for the great video.

Great video. Next time can you add a card at the end showing the details in text of the comparisons? Please and thank you.

Very useful video! I was debating whether I should consider an older MS for the bigger battery, but it seems like that's not an upside. The newer one definitely looks better and has Sentry Mode which is a killer feature when parking in public places. The only question is if it's worth the 8k difference. Personally, I think I would make that investment so I can enjoy the car for longer.

I drive a Model 3 Performance, but have had a lot of seat time in older Model S. They are absolutely wonderful cars. I prefer the rwd S. Super fun, and playful. Lots of space. Absolutely a joy to drive!

Thank you for doing an interesting comparison for those of us who will more likely be buying a used Tesla.

Great presentation Joe well done, a natural, I drive a sr+ and had never thought of the comparison between the 75\85 and m3sr+ cost- range . I'm waiting for the Y but fear it won't come with smaller battery when it's released .

I went for a ride in a Model S once. The difference between it and the 3 are immediately noticeable. My favorite thing is how quiet they are compared to the 3. They are more comfortable of course, but there's not all this wind and tire noise.

I had a 2014 P85 and then a 2019 MD SR+ and now a 2017 s 75 and love the 75 the most, cheaper than a sr+ and real wheel drive, more space, better acceleration, and also has the opening roof which is great. I have done MCU2 and CCS upgrade and still less than £40k

Also 75 is a 350v car with less modules in the pack to lug around. If you aren’t going up and down the country aiming to charge from 5% it’s a reasonable weight / energy saving. There’s a lot more 75d out there which do have the extra motor weight but they were touted as being more efficient than the 75.

Is the acceleration in S 75 worse than S 85 or it feels quite the same? I test drived 2013 S85 Performance 420 h.p...feels very nice. But does driving S 75 (even newer year) makes a huge differents when you step on the "gas"?

would have been interesting to know what year those cars are from and what difference would do the 21 Vs 19 inch wheels
