Especially with those shades, hiding the glassy eyes, reddeish purple lids and lash lines that tell your secrets to the ones who also know the secret. We can smell our own from miles away. Even after years of sobriety. Layne Staley is the reason I'm alive. Along with one very amazing judge that actually saw value in me when I couldn't see it in myself.
