They didn't explain it well to you. Tanzania is a union between two countries which are Tanganyika & Zanzibar but because of the politics somehow somewhere Tanganyika was dissolved and disappeared. So Tanganyika right now is not a country as it does not have its own government thus no president. It's using the union's president and the currently president is from Zanzibar. That's why is making it even more confusing. Zanzibar is the one that is a country as it has it's own government and a president. But the Tanganyikans are now demanding to have their own government too. So the name Tanganyika is slowly coming back to many more and more people. Even those who live abroads are teaching the kids to know their true country is Tanganyika as this has been done by Zanzibaris since they were able to get their own govt. Zanzibaris never ever introducing themselves as Tanzanians.Onky Tanganyikans are the ones clain the unuion name as the govt was mistetiously dissolved. I belive soon Tangantika will have it's own government too and be recognized first before the union. .

Zanzibar President is not a commander in chief. He's a governor governing Zanzibar islands but they prefer to call him president. According to the union constitution they are free to call him whoever they want. Passport stamp is only for non Tanzanian. The insurance is newerly implemented rule.

The President Zanzibar is just a Governor not a Tanzanian president, and it’s same country not two different countries. Don’t get misinformed.
