Hanging On When You Feel Like Giving Up

As with all Christians, pastors and elders will experience suffering. Indeed, shepherds of God’s flock face particular challenges and griefs. In this session, Alistair Begg exhorts church leaders to shoulder their responsibilities with hope of eternal rewards. It will not be in this world that pastors find glory for their humility, service, and resistance of Satan—but while they labor here on earth, God strengthens and establishes men’s hearts for their part in His kingdom work.

Most of the times we are our own biggest problem, we proclaim that we serve God with all of out heart and love our neighbour as our self but yet if things do not go our way we question God and judge our fellow man. The job you have is to help those of us keep on keeping on! How pathetic I feel when I can’t seem to string two sentences together before going off track and end up waffling on about something completely different. I am currently experiencing a tough situation and doing everything I can to hang on. It is a long story, but I am seriously struggling. I am worshiping, praising, praying, believing, trusting, fasting, and keeping my faith. I meditate on God's word day and night. I know that God is good and that nothing is impossible for Him. I am in dire need of financial miracle with what appears to be no help in sight. I am 64 and on a tight income and about to lose my home. I am on the verge of giving up and just walking away because nothing seems to go right.
I am reminded of Elija and the widow woman that had enough oil and flour to make 2 cakes to eat and then die.

As a pastor, when I finally figured out that I only answer to 1 person, God, it brought me great peace.
