Was a caretaker for my mom who died at 100. In her last year her mind started to drift but an old musical like this would come on TCM she would perk up and remember all the lyrics. Arthritis meant she could no longer play them on the piano like when we were kids but she loved to sing along. We lived in Chicago but every year in October for their anniversary dad arranged to be in NYC on business and they would take in a show or two so she remembered seeing them on stage as well as in the movies and would come to life

The ordinary people who lived through the pains and partings, the sufferings and horrors of WW1 and WW2 knew what really mattered in life... and still does.

In 1958, my entire 6th grade class walked to the movies after having a box lunch at a public park in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This was our ‘graduation’ gift from our teacher, Mr. Donald Williams. What a wonderful memory. Thank you Mr. Williams.

I met my wife across a table at a presentation . She smiled and we chatted then I asked her out. We were both shy but we knew we were right together 47 years this year
She sings this to me as she loves musicals

My mum told me the song Some enchanted evening was her and my dad's song. Their eyes had met across a dance floor in Dover (England) in 1944. He was in the army, she the women's air force.

I was a 23-year old Englishman, recently arrived in Port of Spain Trinidad. An old school friend took me to a party where he said you will meet the most beautiful woman in the West Indies. We saw each other through the crowd. Our hearts skipped a beat. This became our song..

I'm 75 now and first saw this movie at age 10 or 11. So powerful. I am in awe at how clean the movies were back then. No nudity, no rolling around in bed. No "F" word. Yet this movie / story is enduring.

A hundred and seven dislikes of this clip, and here I am at 65, blubbering like a baby at the sheer beauty of this music and how well it fits the message. That should tell you something about where we are now as a society. Good thing I can blubber in the privacy of my own home; I'd hate to shame myself in public.

Probably the greatest show tune ever written by the genius of Richard Rodgers and fine lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein.

This was one of my Dad's most treasured song. He saw this originally in theaters, and again for the 50th Anniversary. He sang it aloud for his last Thanksgiving. We played it for him as he passed away. Thank You! You helped him pass in peace! ❤❤❤ 🥰🥰🥰😭😭🙏🙏

I was only eight when I heard the music from South Pacific. It was beautiful then, so magical. I watched the movie at a drive in . My Aunt and Uncle took me. I’m 74 now. My Aunt is still alive, my Uncle past. What a gift and great memories for me. My Father singing in the car. Truly a gift. Thank you. Best wishes ♥️♥️🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

The whole scene, not just the music, is so touching and genuine...and so missed in today's "entertainment."

Who in God's name thumbs this down? Maybe the greatest musical of all time!

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, for the movies. And what a wonderful movie! Great singers and actors, and music, and romance--something sadly lacking, in our world today.😞

I first saw this film as a teenager. I’m now nearly 80. I loved it then and I love it now. I have the video of it as well as all of the other Rodgers and Hammerstein films. I’ve also seen it on stage several times, the last time in London, at the Barbican. It was a great production, that one.I believe that you never get tired of listening to the music of R and H.

So gorgeous, both music and setting. Filmed at 'Hanalei Bay' on Kauai, Hawaii. 💙

My Dad loved to play and sing this song… he passed over 30 years ago, but I can still hear him sing this, memories can be wonderful.

This is back when movies were real, just solid acting, singing etc. They were great. That's why they still are great.
