Here is another fine old recording by Frank Sinatra from his Columbia period. "Some Enchanted Evening" from the 1949 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific was recorded for the first time by Frank Sinatra on February 28, 1949 on Columbia Records with arranging and conducting by Axel Stordahl and featuring celesta and strings. The song can be found on the Columbia CD box set, The Best of the Columbia Years, 1943-1952 and The Columbia Years 1943 – 1952: The Complete Recordings: 12 CD Box Set. Sinatra was to record it again on July 25, 1963 and July 24, 1967 for The World We Knew album. I do not own the right to the song, audio, or images contained in this video. My Dad died of coronavirus on the 22nd May 2020, his funeral is on the 18th June and this version will be played he was 97 years of age, feeling very tearful, what a beautiful song. Keep safe everyone x

Ah what an amazing version of this lovely song. My grandfather passed away yesterday leaving his wife of 65 years and this was always their song. Every time it would play they would hold hands. I'll never forget it. Love Frank too.

I like this song since perhaps 1970-1971 when i was in high school in Singapore, though English is my third language. The lyrics perhaps sang my deepest desire, to meet some one some where and it's all magical evening when we least expected.
I listen to Sinatra version and the version in Mantovani golden hits. I tried to watch South Pacific, but a bit long and takes time to like it. Of course easier as we cud hv the digital copy.
So far I didn't know any one else that like this song so much except here. Some one said their parents wud listen to this song together and hold hands, so sweet, and so sad we sll grow old and eventually parted.
