As a voracious reader and father of 2 young boys (11 & 9), thank you for focusing on books that they'd like. They are sorely missing that at school.

I will definitely be picking up the first of the Special Forces Cadets book for my oldest son Jack.

As an addictive, avid & voracious reader, this conversation made me smile. Reading, for one thing, encourages one to define words they're unfamiliar with, and aids in the ability to figure out five syllable words...e.g., a character with a foreign name. Audio books (I've only experienced one) are nice if you're working around the house or on your car, but they're NOT reading.

I'm 24 and in the Army. When you both talked about capturing the young male audience at school really hit me hard. Back in high school, I hated reading because a lot of books the teachers had me read just wasn't interesting because it was either a stupid soap opera viewed as romance like Romeo and Juliet or just a poetry that I was required to write something every time a paragraph was done. The only thing I read back then that interested me was manga and comic books. It's only two years ago that I got back into reading. Now I can read thriller books like the Terminal List to YA novels like Hunger Games to light novels like Classroom of the Elite. You just have to capture what young boys want and unfortunately, high school made reading feel like a chore.
