David Tennant's Doctor always felt the passing of each companion during his tenure with such raw sincerity. I mean he REALLY expressed it in a way that just wrenched your heart every single season of the 10th Doctor. THEN you come in and do it in triplicate all at once with companions that were not technically "HIS" Doctor's and the emotion he expresses through those eyes in this scene is just GOLD! It's like "show us how much you loved these characters you never played against who died because of adventures with other versions of you!" Whether you consider it from the perspective of the actor or of the incarnation of the Doctor, it's proof that Tennant (and his incarnations, 10 and 14) are just the best!

"Well that's all right then" was such a knife to the Doctor's hearts. Because it's exactly how 10 would react if someone tried to justify letting good people die. 10 carried so much guilt and was always so hard on himself.

"Well thats alright then!" You can see just how much that cuts into the doctor. Absolutely fantastic writing and acting.

Whoever edited the clips for Clara and Bill deserves a raise the transition fit so well together

"Well that's alright then!" is a good example of a line that gets colder the more it is repeated.

That transition from The Toymaker cutting Bill's wires to Cyber-Bill falling on her knees was clean and sad.

He listed all the worst things that The Doctor feels about himself, all his loss, and it broke my heart a little. David did a amazing job of making you feel it 😢

The way he says “killed…by a bird” is hilarious

It's incredible that even thought they weren't his companions, David was still able to portray the sadness their loss caused on the Doctor. Through 14's eyes, I saw 11 and 12, clear as day.

This is the problem with living in a time machine. Everyone is always alive, and everyone is always dead

That cut, from The Toymaker cutting Bill’s stings, then going to Bill falling as a Cyberman, is UNFORGIVABLE.

“Well that’s alright then” is such a good response to the Doctors replies. Because he knows the Doctor doesn’t believe any of it makes it alright and blames their suffering on his entering their lives.

The toymaker saying what fans felt, ... sarcastically "Well thats alright then!"

I love when past Doctors’ companions are mentioned, it helps the Doctors feel like the same person

The sheer genius of the statement “well that’s alright then” is perfect. The toymaker is mocking all of the Doctors rationalizations for his companions deaths. The toymaker is speaking for the Doctors consciousness and making it aware that the Doctor is responsible for the deaths and of everyone he as ever cared about or grown close to. And the doctors excuses prove the toymaker right
