Christian Nationalism: Rejecting the Left's Misleading Narrative

WASHINGTON – Since Donald Trump's entry into politics began with a ride down the Trump Tower escalator almost nine years ago, the presidential candidate spoke directly to evangelical Christians and many responded in kind.

In 2024, not much has changed. "We have to bring back our religion, we have to bring back Christianity in this country," Trump recently told those gathered at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville.

Unfortunately, some who made their way inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6th echoed some of that same spirit with a prayer inside the Senate Chamber. In the aftermath of those events, many news organizations took a closer look, resulting in stories with headlines like, "The Growing Danger of Christian Nationalism," that imply it's a movement rooted in political power and even violence.

I’m a Christian, and I love my country. They can call me whatever they want…🤨

I have no problem being Christian but there are powers who want a theocracy with one in particular who is so far from Christian values and in not so secret actions revels in the fact that he can twist people to his will. I’m praying hard for us and the country. I live in a sanctuary city and the amount of vitriol I hear read and see is disgusting knowing as a Hispanic myself, certain people don’t feel we deserve salvation. Lord, your will be done now and always. You know what we need to heal us and move us towards You.

There is a real danger to be Christian Nationalist, the danger is idolatry. Out loyalty should only belong to Christ and his kingdom which belongs in Heaven. Now the early Christians did not involve themselves with politics, it was until the church became involve with the Roman emperor that the church became tainted and full of wrong ideas. Jesus is Lord and only He deserves the glory forever amen, keep preaching and praying thru all and at all times.

I am a true Christian and a Democrat. America is governed by the constitution. We are a country of laws. NOT a theocracy.

Our constitution says freedom of religion, not freedom of Christianity. Madison and Jefferson both were against the idea of church and state and both were the ones who wrote the anti establishment clause of the first amendment.

Trump: Two Corinthians
Me: You cant convince me that he reads the word of God after something like that. And if he doesnt read the word of God, how can he say that he lives his life as a Christian?

Keep religion in church, not in our government. Nobody gets to tell me what, if any, faith I have to believe in or live by. 🖕

The mainstream media uses this term to put a negative label on those Christians who are politically conservative and who believe in the Bill of Rights. While there may be some loopy people advocating for theocracy, most conservative Christians in America are not like that at all.

It's just another label being flung around to divide.

No one should be forced to believe in something that they cannot accept. Just because others think it's so good for them. Or otherwise think that one religion is somehow superior to others. Which is insane.

It isn't just that!! We reject any in office supporting things that are so basically wrong that they have to force acceptance on everyone. that is from the right left up or down that doesn't matter! We obey god and god alone. Shouldn't try to sweep Christians into a side for some political bolstering! lest you end up in the same category....
